Benin - Protesting students of the University of Benin, (UNIBEN) set
ablaze a bus belonging to the state government in retaliation to the
demolition of official quarters in the university allegedly by the state
government, Vanguard reports.
Students
of the university and members of the Academic Staff Union of
Universities (ASUU), have been expressing their grievance against the
state government over the demolition of 18 property given to the
university during the Ogbemudia-led administration in the state.
The demolition was said to have been carried out on Monday night
allegedly on the orders of the state Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, without
prior notice.
They also accused the government of disrespecting
the court over the disputed property, located on Edo Osagie Avenue in
the General Residential Area, Benin, which they said was pending in
court.
