Abuja - Unless there is a significant improvement in the security
situation in the Northeast, the February general elections may not take
place in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States, reports Premium Times.

Idowu, Chief Press Secretary to the Independent National Electoral
Commssion (INEC) Chairman, Attahiru Jega, said unless the security
agencies guarantee the security and safety of its staff, ad-hoc and
permanent, elections will not hold in the three states.
He denied reports that the commission has already decided not to hold elections in the three states.

He noted that the commission is working hard the security agencies to make sure elections hold in the troubled states.
