Makurdi - Several houses were on Sunday burnt when supporters of the
All Progressives Congress (APC) and that of the ruling Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) clashed in Benue State, reports Leadership
Several persons were reportedly injured while vehicles were also destroyed in the clash.
The
clash was between supporters of Senator George Akume (APC) and Mike Mku
(PDP) who are both vying to be elected for the seat of Benue North West
senatorial district.

Trouble started when supporters of Akume had without authorisation removed PDP flags in the Tyeku area of the state.
Serious disagreement ensued when supporters of Mku tried to question the rational behind the removal of the PDP flags.
The supporters trade abusive words before they finally started fighting.
A quick intervention of the men of the vigilante group in the area calmed the situation.
