Lisbon - A number of clubs in Europe are showing keen
interest in Nigerian teenager Jesse Sekidika.
Sekidika, who’s contract with Benfica expired at the end of
the season, has always been in demand following his top performance for the U19
team of the Portuguese club.
Among clubs seeking the signature of the 18 year-old are Norwegian
side Viking, Aik Stockhom of Sweden, Maritimo SC in Portugal and another Austrian
club.
Reached to comment on the transfer speculation of Jesse, the
player's British based Football Agent, Liberty Sifuya, confirmed the report.
"It is true that a few European clubs are interested in
Jesse, however, at this point in time, we cannot comment about any club
interest nor disclose any information until everything is concrete and
finalised between the player and any potential interest from a club.” He told
News24.
“Jesse is now a free agent player after the expiry of his
contract with Benfica. In due course we will know 100% as to which club Jesse
does decide to join in summer."
Sekidika was recently voted man of the match in the last
game of the season against Sporting Lisbon U-19 after having come on as a 2nd
half substitute and played a pivotal role in the match and also scored the
equalizer.
