Abuja - The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS)
has condemned the killing of more than 20 people by the Boko Haram in
Chad.
The recent attack in N’djamena, the capital city, also caused extensive damage to buildings and property.
ECOWAS extended solidarity and sympathy to the government, people of Chad and the bereaved families.
“ECOWAS
has learnt with grave concern, the recent attack by Boko Haram sect in
N’djamena, where over 20 people have been reported dead, with several
others injured and buildings and properties destroyed," ECOWAS stated
from Abuja.
The body reiterated its commitment to work with the
Lake Chad Basin Member States in the Multinational Joint Task Force
(MNJTF) and all stakeholders to halt these terrorist attacks.
The regional bloc also welcomed efforts by the African Union, the Lake Chad Basin Commission and others in that regard.
