Kaduna - Ahead of Saturday’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier
against Le Sao of Chad in Kaduna, Super Eagles midfielder John
Ugochukwu Ogu has told News24 that they might be playing under pressure
against the Chadians, considering they started with a home loss during
the qualifiers for the last Africa Cup of Nations.
The 27-year
old, who plays for Hapoel Be’er Sheva in Israel, admits that with the
Eagles having started poorly on their way to failing to qualify for the
Equatorial Guinea 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, they might be under some
pressure starting this qualifying campaign with another home game.
“Well yeah I think its big pressure for us,” he told News24 in an exclusive interview.
“After we failed to qualify for the last Africa Cup of Nations, we don’t want to make the same mistakes again,” he admitted.
Speaking
further, the dark-skinned left footer says he and his teammates want to
give everything they have against Chad so as to avoid a repeat of what
happened the last time.
“My teammates and I want to take this game
and give it everything we have. I believe in the squad we have now
because everyone has been sweating it out in the last few days and we
are all working hard because we know what is at stake so we want to give
it everything we have and by God’s grace, we will come out the best,”
Ogu posited.
