Obasanjo, other Nigerians at ISGPP conference

The former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and other eminent Nigerians gathered at the inaugural conference of the Ibadan School of Government and Public Policy to discuss issues bordering on the problems and solutions of the country.

The two day conference took place in Ibadan on Monday, February 1 and Tuesday, February s. It was organised by the school to look at how the issue of change can spread to all quarters of the country not just as a political slogan but as a way of harnessing growth and development.

Obasanjo noted that the issue of corruption was a serious menace that he first noticed when he became president in 1999 which necessitated the creation of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. He said it was unfortunate that corruption seems to be rearing its ugly head again.

He revealed that his reason for writing a letter to the National assembly was to bring their consciousness to the path of opulent spending they were taking.

Other dignitaries at the event include Professor Akin Mabogunje who is the chairman, board of governance of the school, Professor Pat Utomi, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, Odia Ofeimum, Dr Kayode Fayemi and other notable figures.

The truth behind Iara And Adams Oshimhole's alleged 'divorce

Unconfirmed reports broke this morning that the beautiful wife of Edo state governor, Iara Fortes Oshimhole, has filed for divorce.

According to Tiwasblog, Mrs Iara is filing for divorce on claims that her husband, Adams Oshiomhole, is fetish and diabolic. Iara was alleged to have also accused her husband of being responsible for the death of his former wife Mrs Clara Oshiomhle who died on December 7, 2010, at the Abuja clinic, Maitama, after a protracted battle with breast cancer.

Upon realising that publishing fake reports may have its consequences, Tiwasblog, which broke the story earlier today, has simply deleted the news. See the confirmation below:

Nigerians react to Buhari’s vacation

The presidency has announced on Friday, that Muhammadu Buhari will be on break from his official functions February 5 to February 10, 2016.

Buhari was sworn-in as Nigerian President on May 29, 2015.
The president is currently in London, United Kingdom, where he delivered a speech at Supporting Syria conference.

The leader of the nation has been criticized for travelling a lot. Buhari has already made 23 official trips since assuming the office.

The news about the president’s vacation disturbed the Nigerian society. Read some of the Nigerians’ comments posted on social media.

Francis Akpata: “Nigeria is now Nollywood where you play role and leave the next role for others to play. President Buhari has no health problem when he was campaigning 2015 for change why now.”

Alleged B'Haram commander on Chibok girls location

One of the Boko Haram commanders, in an interview granted to the Vice on HBO, has revealed that he knew where the missing Chibok girls are.

He told to a journalist, Kaj Larsen: “I know where they are.”
“You want to know where they are? They are not with us. If we can get what we want, we know where they are, we will get them,” the Boko Haram member, who asked for anonymity, added.

After being asked if the girls were being used as a bargaining chip, the commander answered that Boko Haram wants Nigeria to “commit to the teachings of Allah and the Prophet Muhammed”.

More than 200 Chibok schoolgirls were abducted by the Boko Haram insurgents in April 2014 from their school in Borno state.
A vast hunt for the girls involving the Nigerian army and support from the global community has so far shown no results.

Shortly after the attack two years ago, Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau unveiled a video statement saying his group was responsible for the missing schoolgirls.

The Nigerian army has ramped up its operations against the insurgents over the last year, claiming a series of successes and pushing Boko Haram back from several strongholds in the northern part of the country.
The administation of President Muhammadu Buhari has recently announced that the Boko Haram sect has been ‘technically defeated‘. However, the insurgents continue their attacks and the missing girls have not been rescued.

The analysis done by Buharimetre on how President Muhammadu Buhari has steered the ship of the nation is what the president himself may need to think so much about.

President Buhari was addressed as General Muhammadu Buhari at least 30 years ago until he was about to be sworn in on Friday, May 29, 2015. He himself dropped General from his name.

The interest in General Buhari as a military Head of State was that some of his economic policies were lauded by economic experts especially when he paid Nigeria’s foreign debts and stabilised the exchange rate as one Naira to a Dollar.

When General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (rtd) took over the reins of leadership of the country from General Buhari, some public analysts then initially believe better days were ahead for the economy of the country not until IBB took Nigeria to the wrong direction by introducing the Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP) which was the brain-child of the Paris club led by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB).

As the Naira continues to fall against the Dollar, President Buhari further explained one of the reasons for this. In an interview the president granted on Friday, February 5 as reported in The Cable.

“President Muhammadu Buhari said the Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP) killed the naira. Ibrahim Babangida, former military president, instituted SAP between 1986 and 1988.
“Buhari traced the origin of the problem facing the Nigerian currency to the administration that succeeded his in the military era.  Structural adjustment programmes (SAPs) consist of loans provided by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) to countries that experienced economic crises.”

The Minister of Finance then, Chief Olu Falae was the one that championed the SAP on behalf of Babangida’s government which Nigerians had to willingly and unwillingly accept.
The idea behind SAP was to first weaken the Naira against the Dollar and thereafter introduce different austerity measures in which the citizens especially the suffering masses bore the brunt.
After Babangida’s regime agreed to the terms of these capitalist institutions, they offered Nigeria loan.
When some economic experts realised that the loan was more of an economic bondage, they dissuaded Babangida from collecting the loan. Babangida went ahead to collect the loan and since then Nigeria’s economic fortunes started plummeting. The rest they say is history.

Babangida met the exchange rate at one Naira to a Dollar but left it as N22 to one Dollar after introducing the SAP and other unfavourable economic policies.

Prostitute surgically removed from man who died during sex

A bizarre video showing paramedics transporting a dead man with a prostitute on top of him to hospital has recently surfaced online. According to various reports, an elderly man passed away during sex with a prostitute, who accidentally stuck to him and was unable to set herself free.

In a viral video the deceased and the sex worker are seen being rushed to hospital by paramedics for surgical separation.

It means that during intercourse the muscles in the vagina cam clamp down on the penis much more firmly than usual, making it impossible for the penis to withdraw from the vagina.

Police invade command office of NSCDC

Police officers invaded the command office of NSCDC at Railway Junction, Dugbe in Ibadan on Friday morning, February 5, following a fracas one of their officers had with an official of the NSCDC.

According to Tribune, a policeman dressed in mufti resisted attempts by officials of the FRSC and NSCDC to arrest him for violating traffic laws by making calls while driving.

An argument however ensued following an attempt by FRSC officials to flag the police officer down.
According to an eye witness account, the policeman was said to have thrown a canister of tear gas at the FRSC officials in a bid to escape. He was later accosted by NSCDC officers on patrol who arrived the scene.
But the erring office called for back up, which upon arrival, beat up the NSCDC officers on ground, and seized their vehicle.

The police officers than invaded the command office of NSCDC at Railway Junction causing chaos in the process.

Meanwhile, the bloodbath that ensued between the Nigerian army and members of the Islamic Movement in Zaria, on December 2015, which left hundreds of Shi’ite members dead, has continued to spark criticism from various concerned groups.

Reports Afrique has it that a Coalition of Human Rights and Pro-Democracy Based Civil Society Organizations have issued a stern warning to the Iranian government for interfering in matters that concerns Nigeria’s internal security.
