abangida's policies led to downfall of Naira - Buhari

– Is there any difference between General Muhammadu Buhari and President Muhammadu Buhari by offering Nigeria and Nigerians the best economic policies?
– The blame for the present economic woes of the country has been put at the door step of Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB)
– Nigerians are groaning under a high exchange rate especially businessmen and importers
President Muhammadu Buhari (L) and Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (R)

The analysis done by on how President Muhammadu Buhari has steered the ship of the nation is what the president himself may need to think so much about.

President Buhari was addressed as General Muhammadu Buhari at least 30 years ago until he was about to be sworn in on Friday, May 29, 2015. He himself dropped General from his name.

The interest in General Buhari as a military Head of State was that some of his economic policies were lauded by economic experts especially when he paid Nigeria’s foreign debts and stabilised the exchange rate as one Naira to a Dollar.

General Buhari ensured he never made the Naira slip as he left office without devaluing Nigeria’s currency. However, as a democratically elected president, Buhari is currently battling hard to ensure that the Naira is not exchanged for more than N300 a Dollar at the parallel exchange market
.
The Naira has fallen against the Dollar several times since Buhari assumed office.
When General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (rtd) took over the reins of leadership of the country from General Buhari, some public analysts then initially believe better days were ahead for the economy of the country not until IBB took Nigeria to the wrong direction by introducing the Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP) which was the brain-child of the Paris club led by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB).

As the Naira continues to fall against the Dollar, President Buhari further explained one of the reasons for this. In an interview the president granted on Friday, February 5 as reported in The Cable.

“President Muhammadu Buhari said the Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP) killed the naira. Ibrahim Babangida, former military president, instituted SAP between 1986 and 1988.
“Buhari traced the origin of the problem facing the Nigerian currency to the administration that succeeded his in the military era.  Structural adjustment programmes (SAPs) consist of loans provided by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) to countries that experienced economic crises.”

was the one that championed the SAP on behalf of Babangida’s government which Nigerians had to willingly and unwillingly accept.
The idea behind SAP was to first weaken the Naira against the Dollar and thereafter introduce different austerity measures in which the citizens especially the suffering masses bore the brunt.
After Babangida’s regime agreed to the terms of these capitalist institutions, they offered Nigeria loan.
When some economic experts realised that the loan was more of an economic bondage, they dissuaded Babangida from collecting the loan. Babangida went ahead to collect the loan and since then Nigeria’s economic fortunes started plummeting. The rest they say is history.

Babangida met the exchange rate at one Naira to a Dollar but left it as N22 to one Dollar after introducing the SAP and other unfavourable economic policies.

The pair are hidden under a blanket, but the woman, who can be seen on top, does appear to be moving

While some sources claim the video is a hoax, death during sex is uncommon. It can occur for a number of reasons, generally because of the physical strain of the activity, with he majority of deaths caused by various cardiovascular problems.

Numerous notable cases of individuals dying during or from sex have been recorded and reported including a president, a prime minister, and a pope.

It is also possible for people to become stuck together because of a rare occurrence called penis captivus.
It means that during intercourse the muscles in the vagina cam clamp down on the penis much more firmly than usual, making it impossible for the penis to withdraw from the vagina.

EFCC lawyer exposes FG, reveals why Dasuki was rearrested

Lawyer to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Rotimi Jacobs (SAN) has given an indication that Col. Sambo Dasuki, the former national security adviser (NSA) was being held for other allegations aside the arms procurement scandal.

This was disclosed during proceedings on Thursday, February 4, when the counsel to Dasuki, Joseph Daudu (SAN) and Jacobs were addressing the court on a motion praying for the release of Dasuki, The Guardian reports.

According to the prosecution, Dasuki has not been able to enjoy the bail granted him meeting prescribed conditions because he was rearrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) over offences he allegedly committed while serving in the Nigerian Army.

This reveals that the embattled former NSA is being held for offences allegedly committed 22 years after he left service in 1994.
Dasuki was a fugitive for seven years and he is being investigated for series of alleged offences he committed when he was in the army,” the prosecution counsel said.
However, he advised Dasuki to evoke section 46 of the constitution and institute a civil action to challenge his arrest and enforce his fundamental right to his liberty.

Earlier, the defense lawyer, Daudu, in a motion, urged the court to prohibit the government from further prosecuting Dasuki or seeking any indulgence from the court until the bail granted him was allowed to be enjoyed.

He further asked the court to discharge the defendant of all offences contained in the charge against Dasuki on the grounds that the government could not lawfully prosecute Dasuki having been in contempt of the court.

The case was adjourned to February 8 by Justice Hussein Baba-Yusuf to rule on whether to discharge Dasuki of the criminal charges preferred against him.
Dasuki had been denied freedom despite at least two court orders granting him bail. The former NSA who is standing trial in three different courts in Abuja for alleged money laundering offences running into billions of naira, was taken to court by the EFCC but he regained his freedom temporarily after he was granted bail.
But in a stunning twist of fate, Dasuki was rearrested shortly after being released from the Kuje Prison in Abuja.

New Zealand minister hit in the face with sex toy

As a form of political protest, attacking a member of parliament with a sex toy is certainly a novel idea.
However, this is exactly what happened to New Zealand MP and economy minister Steven Joyce,

The offending sex toy was thrown by Jose Butler who was protesting against the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA).

“That’s for raping our country, because of the TPPA and selling away our rights and our freedom. I did it for our country,” Butler shouted as she was manhandled away by security agents.
She was subsequently arrested by the police but was released without charge.

Joyce took the entire incident in good humour and was joking about it shortly afterwards.
“Fair to say I don’t think those sorts of things happen everyday,” he said.

“We actually thought it was a little bit humorous at the end of it all. New experiences in politics everyday, it’s the privilege of serving.”

The controversial TPPA deal has been criticised for the ongoing secrecy of negotiations, which the public have no access to, and for the effects it may have on democracy, jobs and food safety in New Zealand and Oceania.

The agreement includes New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, and other prominent south-east Asian nations, as well as the United States.

Using sex toys as an act of protest has grown popularity over the last decade. In 2008 the former World Chess Champion and Kremlin critic during a meeting of opposition activists.
