SHOCKING CIRCUMSTANCES BEHIND JONATHAN’S BIRTH, MOTHER REVEAL

SHOCKING CIRCUMSTANCES BEHIND JONATHAN’S BIRTH, MOTHER REVEALS

Ex-president Goodluck Jonathan and wife, Dame Patience Jonathan with Mrs Eunice Jonathan (middle).
In a rather emotional manner, mother of Nigeria’s former president, Goodluck Jonathan, has explained the circumstances surrounding his birth and the kind of child he was while growing up.

The mother, Mrs Eunice Aye Jonathan(nee Afeni), according to dawn-to-dusk news, regularly attended religious activities with him as the Nigerian president.

As a devout Anglican, it is on record that unless she was ill, Mrs Jonathan swept the Anglican Church in Otuoke (Jonathan’s hometown in Bayelsa State) every day for 30 years from when she became a Christian in 1976.
Of all her children, only ex-president Goodluck and his elder sister, Obebatein.
In the former president’s authorised biography titled ‘Wind Of Hope’, Madam Eunice said: “I often had prolonged labour during childbirth, sometimes for up to a week, and because of this, I usually had still-births. But when it was the turn of Goodluck, I delivered him the very day I started having labour pains.
“Only God knows how he created Azikiwe. He is unique. He was an exceptional child. When he was growing up, he never refused to go on any errand. He was so helpful to us his parents. Before he went to primary school and whenever he was holidays, he would accompany me to the farm, or

PST FADARE OF REDEEMED CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF GOD IN PRISON OVER N100M FRAUD

The Bishop of Maranatha Church, Jonas Katung, and the managing director of Dadin Kowa Microfinance Bank Limited, Irmiya Jatau, have been remanded in prison for defrauding hundreds of depositors.

The Punch reports that a Federal High Court sitting in Jos, the Plateau state capital, ordered the prison remand of the suspects on Wednesday, February 3.

Joined with them in the charge are Dadin Kowa Microfinance Bank Limited and one Okewole Dayo.
In one of 24 counts filed against the accused, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alleged that the accused conspired to defraud over 64,000 customers of the defunct Covenant Fadama Cooperative Society to the tune of N11.5 bn.

When Justice Musa Kurya read the charges to them, all the accused persons pleaded not guilty, except Bishop Katung, who pleaded guilty to one of the counts. However, he suddenly changed his mind and pleaded not guilty like others.

Katung had been earlier granted bail before the case was adjourned till Wednesday.

L. P. Asor, the EFCC prosecutor, said that Jatau was not covered by the bail application earlier granted to the accused people because no charge was preferred against him. He added that the charges against the bank MD were only filed two days before.

Opposing the bail application, Asor argued that the bail granted to the bishop should also apply to the bank MD since he is one of the co-accused people in the case.

After hearing the argument from the defence and prosecution counsels, the judge ruled in favour of the prosecution and ordered that Jatau be remanded in prison.

The case was adjourned till March 7 for further hearing.

Another Man of God, Pastor Felix Olu Fadare of the Redeemed Christian church of God was involved in the N100m land fraud scam.

Fadare was apprehended by operatives of the Special Fraud Unit and arraigned before Igbosere magistrates court.

Apart from that, the suspects were accused of transferring the sum of N50m from Covenant Fadama Cooperative Society into the Dadin Kowa Microfinance.

WIKE’S VICTORY : APC CALLS FOR PROBE ON SUPREME COURT JUSTICES

WIKE’S VICTORY : APC CALLS FOR PROBE ON SUPREME COURT JUSTICES

John Odigie-Oyegun, the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress has called for the investigation of Supreme Court judges.

He made the call against the backdrop of his party’s loss of Rivers state governorship seat to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.

The Supreme Court has last week affirmed the electoral victory of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state and dismissed the suit of the APC governorship candidate, Dakuku Peterside who had urged the court to upturn the victory of the APC.

The APC chief said this when he received a delegation of the party from the state led by Peterside where he expressed shock over the verdict of the Supreme Court saying: “something fundamentally wrong in the judiciary.”

Commenting on the request of the delegation to meet with president Muhamamdu Buhari,Oyegun promised to arrange a meeting between the president and members of the Rivers APC to address the state of the party, Vanguard reports.

He said: “The APC National leadership has not neglected party leaders and supporters in Rivers State. The state has always been in the front burner of discussion and decision in the party. There is obviously something fundamentally wrong in Rivers State which needs to be investigated and addressed.

“Your visit has had a sober effect on me. This meeting will kickstart urgent actions to address what went wrong. As of today, there is an attempt being made by INEC to bar us from elections in Anambra and other states. We must address these issues. I still find the judgement  on the Rivers State governorship election totally astonishing. There is something fundamentally wrong in the judiciary.
“We have lost very important resource-rich states to the PDP. No matter how crude oil prices have fallen, it is still the most important revenue earner for the country.

“I will take up your request to facilitate a meeting with the President. We will do that as soon as possible and also make it clear that there are problems which as a party, we must address.”

Malaga confirm signing of Ikechukwu Uche

Malaga confirm signing of Ikechukwu Uche (Igbere Son)

– Malaga confirm signing of Ikechukwu Uche
– Uche returns to Spain just months after he left Villareal
– The striker will play alongside Uruguayan Federico Ricco at the club

Super Eagles striker Ikechukwu Uche has joined to Spanish La Liga side, Malaga from Mexican side Tigres.
Uche had a relatively poor stay in Mexico as he was dogged by injuries which prompted his failure to establish himself in the starting line-up.

Ikechukwu Uche

Francesc Arnau, Malaga sports director described Ikechukwu Uche as a great player and a big contributor to his team.

According to him, Uche together with Uruguayan Federico Ricco, who also joined on the last day of the transfer, are good signings for Malaga.

“Nobody could argue the quality of Uche, we’ll give him time and enjoy what he does,” Arnau said. “He passed his medical perfectly and is ready to play. (Federico) Ricca is a valued player from Uruguay, and we believe he could be a major asset in the future for our club, both short and long term.

“He’s a left-back, aggressive, kicks the ball well and has the ambition to be a great footballer. He is growing and I hope we see him in action for a long time.

“In this aspect we gain time by bringing forward his arrival. We thought about two or three more additions, plus the two surprises we had,” he concluded.

In the same vein, West Ham have signed former Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike. The 28-year-old striker joins the team on loan until the end of the season.

UAE-based Al Ain, where Emenike had been on loan, had released the striker last month after they declared his services was no longer needed as one of their three foreign players.

WHY MUST NIGERIA GIVE CONDITION TO RELEASE KANU?

WHY MUST NIGERIA GIVE CONDITION TO RELEASE KANU?

WHY MUST NIGERIA GIVE CONDITION TO RELEASE KANU?
When Kanu granted interview to Nigerian reporters he said– Nigeria is a Zoo because they Nigerians only understand violence, peace is a thing of human beings and hence Nigerians are monkeys and baboons dialogue and peace are alien to them. Nnamdi Kanu chose peace and today indeed Nigeria only understand violence by violently killing peaceful protesters and violently tortured and detaining him, they have failed to understand the peace Nnamdi Kanu came with.Boko haram is being pleaded to accept dialogue, Buhari went as far as looking for the leadership of the terrorist group for them to dialogue to stop their insurgence. When militants in Biafra land opted to struggle for resource control, recall that Ken Sarowiwa confronted the effort with peace, he was killed by Nigerian government but when violence came in, they armed theirselves, Nigerian government listened to them and discussed for a solution which begot amnesty. Nnamdi Kanu is aware of the risk of peacefully asking the zoo called Nigeria something, they take peaceful approach as weakness and try to kill or subdue that misinterpreted brave man peacefully and lawfully asking them for something. Though Nnamdi Kanu frightened Nigeria so much with his mouth simply to draw attention to his cause, they have given him the needed attention, instead of to dialogue with him to end or solve his cause for agitation, they chose to imprison him. Confronting him with violence, deprivation and abuse of rights is the solution Nigeria have.

As a man that grew up in London where civilization breathes, he has no option but to apply common sense and legally execute Biafra. There are distinct calls for violence, it is widely believed that making use of arms is the language Nigeria understands but even-though that is the case, we must be patient and cautiously temper extremity.
This is a time to call the attention of human beings and solicit for diplomatic engagement or humanitarian engagement to solve this agitation. Biafrans have demonstrated and shown the resoluteness that they want to be free while Nigeria have shown animalistic feature of inability to solve problems with common sense. They believe that killing of oppositions or agitators is the only solution that is feasible and this solution is so barbaric and animalistic that human beings have to stand up in defense of their kind.
Why must Kanu be threatened with imprisonment to stop Biafra agitation or why must he quit Biafra agitation to be a free man. Nigeria is really contravening local and international laws of which 1984 human right declaration is threatened. The world must rise up to this barbarism and hatred, condemn it, abhor it and speak up against it for a  better world for all.

Multiple explosions rock Benin City (photo)

Multiple explosions rock Benin City (photo)

– Multiple explosions recorded in Benin City, the Edo state capital
– Four residential buildings were affected
– Tension on the rice in Oshiomhole’s state
Four residential buildings were Tuesday destroyed in a multiple explosions that occurred in parts of Benin City, capital of Edo state.

The first explosion was said to have occurred at about 2.00 pm around Oka primary school area, close to the junction popularly known as ‘three house’, off Upper Sakponba road in Ikpoba-Okha local government area of the state. ‎

It was gathered that the first explosion occurred when a patent medicine dealer, Elue Chinedu, who operated from one of the buildings, was burning the refuse he swept from the building at a refuse dump.

‎Operatives of Edo state anti-bomb squad and anti riot policemen, led by Musa Uba, a deputy commissioner of police, were said to have been promptly drafted to the place to secure and cordon off the area.

Another deafening explosion however went off at about 6.16 pm, when the anti-bomb squad was trying to detonate other explosives discovered.

Louvre blades, PVC ceilings, doors, aluminum roofing sheets, bore hole rubber tanks and part of the front perimeter fence of the buildings were shattered.

This development heightened tension and anxiety in the entire area as people scampered in different directions for safety as the people apparently suspected that men of the dreaded Boko Haram were responsible for the explosion.

One of the occupants of one of the affected buildings and a woman who was passing by were said to have sustained serious injuries from the explosion, but no live was lost.

It was gathered that suspected kidnappers had lived in one of the buildings in the past, but left the house two years ago when security operatives raided the area.

A 70-year-old woman, Hannah Francis, who lives directly oppose the scene of the explosion, said she heard a deafening sound and had come out to find out what happened, only to see a thick, dark smoke from the building.

Narrating his ordeal, the patient medicine dealer, Elue Chinedu, said he rented the entire building about nine months ago.

He disclosed that after an electrician carried out some minor repairs in his living room, he decided to sweep and burn the refuse at a nearby refuse dump.

“An electrician came to work in the house and I said let me use the opportunity to clean the compound. I gathered the waste papers together and wanted to burn it. As I was burning the papers, I said let me go and buy ice cream. That was when the thing exploded and I sustained some injuries,” he said.

Chinedu was later whisked away by the Police.

Efforts to get the comment of the state commissioner of police, Chris Ezike were not successful.‎‎
This lates development is sure to send shivers down the spines of Edo indigenes as reports of bombing are seldom heard in the state, especially in the capital and historic city of Benin.

HIV vaccine maybe on the way – Research

HIV vaccine maybe on the way – Research

 – New study shows potential HIV vaccine has been successful on test subjects.
 – Uses virus linked to common cold to produce results.
 – Trial took place in Africa and North America.

According to new research the long awaited HIV vaccine could, just possibly, be a reality soon.
Research published in the Annals of Internal Medicine on Monday showed a new type of HIV vaccine was relatively successful when trialed.

The study, conducted among 218 volunteers in Africa and North America, tested two different vaccine methods.

One method used a vaccine consisting of adenovirus serotype 26, the other used adenovirus serotype 35.

Adenoviruses are airborne viruses that occur naturally and generally cause common colds.
They have been suggested for use as vaccine ‘vectors,’ or a carrier of a virus, to produce immune responses against HIV.

A visual representation of the HIV virus

“The development of a vaccine to prevent HIV infection is a global health priority,”Annals reported in a news release.

“To date, four vaccine strategies have been assessed for possible efficacy and only has showed modest and short-lived efficacy. A significant challenge is how to elicit robust and durable anti-HIV-1 immune response.”

Adenovirus serotypes 26 and 35 are not very common, so the idea is that a vaccine using them will not fail due to a person’s natural immunity.

These adenovirus-vectored serotypes already have been shown to be protective as HIV-1 vaccines in monkeys.

“Both vaccines elicited significant immune responses in all populations,” the authors said.
The trial was conducted between October 2010 and November 2012.

None of those involved in the trial suffered any side effects.

The study was comprised of approximately half of the participants’ women and half men, with an average age of 27.
