Iran Will Never Forget China’s Cooperation During the Time of Sanctions

AhlulBayt News Agency - Ayatollah Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, met Saturday afternoon with Xi Jinping, the President of the People’s Republic of China, and his accompanying delegation. President Rouhani was also present at the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, His Eminence referred to the long and ancient history of commercial and cultural relations between the two peoples of Iran and China, reiterating: “The government and people of Iran have always looked and are still looking for expanding relations with independent and trustworthy countries like China and on this basis, the agreement between the presidents of Iran and China for the establishment of a 25-year strategic relation is completely correct and wise.”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution described the statements of the President of the People’s Republic of China about the necessity to revive the silk road and to develop relations among the countries located on this route as a completely reasonable and acceptable idea, further saying: “The Islamic Republic of Iran will never forget China’s cooperation during the time of sanctions.”

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to energy as one of the most important issues of today’s world and stated: “Iran is the only independent country in the region that can be trusted in the area of energy because unlike many regional countries, the energy policy of Iran is not influenced by any non-Iranian factor.”

His Eminence pointed to the imperialist polices of some countries – America in particular – and their insincere cooperation with other countries, adding: “This situation has caused independent countries to pursue more cooperation with one another. The agreement between Iran and China for developing a 25-year strategic relation is within this framework. With the serious follow-up by both sides, agreements will definitely pass through the stage of implementation.”

He referred to the Iranian culture’s inclination and outlook towards the east, saying: “Westerners have never been able to win the Iranian nation’s trust.”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution stated that American policies towards Iran are worse and more hostile than those of other western countries. He added: “These hostile policies have caused the people of Iran and the officials of our country to look for developing relations with independent countries.” Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that the issue of a single China is one of the fundamental and definite policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He reiterated: “Unfortunately, our region has become insecure because of the wrong policies of westerners and also because of a deviant and wrong interpretation of Islam. There is a danger that this will be expanded and developed and therefore, it should be prevented with intelligent cooperation.”

His Eminence considered some regional countries as the main origin of this deviant thought, reiterating: “Instead of confronting the main origin of this thought and instead of confronting terrorist groups, westerners have attacked and pressured Muslims in Europe and in America. This is while these terrorist orientations are completely different from correct Islamic thinking.”

He stressed that the Americans and westerners insist on using the term “Islamic state” for some terrorist groups and added: “This outlook is an insult to Muslims and it will indirectly prepare the ground for strengthening these groups rather than solving the problem.”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution described the American claim – the so-called formation of “the coalition to fight against terrorism” – as a deception, stating: “The Americans have the same outlook on all issues and they never behave in a sincere manner.”

At the end of his statements, Ayatollah Khamenei expressed hope that the outcome of Tehran negotiations and agreements will be to the advantage of both sides in the real sense of the word.

Xi Jinping also expressed elation at travelling to Iran and thanked the government and people of Iran for their friendly and genuine feelings. He stated that this cordial behavior results from friendly and long cooperation and exchanges between the two countries, further saying: “The mutual cooperation between Iran and China should increase – day by day – on the basis of mutual interests.”

Pointing to the history of Iran and China’s connection with each other through the ancient silk road, he described this road as a symbol of peace, progress and friendly exchanges, adding: “By increasing their cooperation, the countries who are located on this route can defend their interests and achieve their goals in the face of the American model for disturbing the balance of the regional economy.”

He said: “Some superpowers are trying to create a monopoly and to impose the law of the jungle where “[Y]ou are either with us or with our enemy” play a dominant role, but the progress of emerging economies has taken away the monopoly of power from their hands and it has created a suitable environment for the ideas and policies of independent governments.”

The President of the People’s Republic of China mentioned that his country’s support of the nuclear issue of Iran and Iran’s support of a united and single China is an example of mutual trust and of the independent policies of the two countries, further adding: “After the lifting of sanctions too, we should increase our cooperation in all areas.”

Xi Jinping pointed to the numerous privileges that Iran enjoys in terms of geography, manpower and energy, saying: “Iran and China’s economy complement each other. On this trip, we have reached an agreement about formulating a plan for a 25-year strategic cooperation and we are ready to increase and deepen our cooperation in cultural, educational, technological, military and security areas as strategic partners.”

He stated that in the face of terrorism and the complex issues of the region, it is necessary to find a way to increase cooperation between the two countries in the area of security.

The President of the People’s Republic of China described the Leader’s statements as wise and insightful, adding: “The government and people of China have a friendly and amicable attitude towards you and we hope that you will help the two countries develop their relations as you have done in the past.”

Senior Cleric Cautions against US Endless Hostility towards Iran

ehran's Provisional Friday Prayers Leader Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami warned against the US administration's endless hostility towards the Islamic Republic, saying that the nuclear deal with world powers should not lead to Iranians’ optimism about the enemy.

Addressing a huge gathering of worshipers in Tehran on Friday, Ayatollah Khatami slammed the US for its new anti-Iran sanctions, which was announced following the implementation of the nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers, known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

“If we think that the US has done us a favor by the (nuclear) agreement, it would be like we are prettifying the enemy,” he noted.

“While signing the JCPOA, (US President Barack) Obama signed new sanctions against Iran,” the cleric reminded, adding, “This means that the US is the same Great Satan that it was over thirty years ago.”

Washington’s new sanctions on 11 companies and individuals over Iran’s testing of Emad missile in October 2015 were announced on Sunday, hours after termination of anti-Tehran embargoes following confirmations from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that Tehran had made good on its commitments under the JCPOA, the nuclear agreement finalized by Iran and six world powers.

The new financial sanctions by the US government were the first since Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) reached the landmark nuclear agreement on July 14, 2015.

Iran has repeatedly stressed that test of missiles is an issue relating to defense of its territorial integrity and has nothing to do with the JCPOA.

Iran has also underscored frequently that its military might poses no threat to other countries and that the Islamic Republic’s defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.

US supports Saudi in war against Yemen

US Secretary of State John Kerry has reiterated Washington's support for Saudi Arabia’s ongoing war on Yemen, which has so far claimed the lives of at least 8,000 people.

Kerry, who spoke in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, after attending a meeting with his Saudi counterpart Adel al-Jubeir on Saturday, said the Saudi decision to launch airstrikes in Yemen was aimed at dealing with the Ansarullah movement and al-Qaeda operatives in the Arab country.

Saudi Arabia’s military attacks against Yemen, which started in late March, have so far claimed the lives of more than 8,270 people and injured over 16,000 others.

Earlier this month, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said he was “deeply concerned” about Saudi Arabia’s intensification of airstrikes in residential areas and on civilian buildings in the Yemeni capital and warned that Riyadh’s use of cluster bombs in Sana’a, may amount to a “war crime.”

The Saudi strikes are supposedly meant to undermine the Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former Yemeni president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi.

Ansarullah fighters took control of the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, in September 2014 and are currently in control of large parts of the country. They said the government of the fugitive former president was incapable of properly running the affairs of the country and containing the growing wave of corruption and terror.

Kerry further expressed concern about what he described as Iranian “interference” in other countries, including Yemen.

"The United States remains concerned about some of the activities that Iran is engaged in other countries," like Yemen, Syria and Lebanon, he said.

The top diplomat further reassured America's Persian Gulf Arab allies that Washington “will stand with them against any external threat."

"Let me assure everybody that the relationship between the United States and the GCC nations ([Persian] Gulf Cooperation Council) is one that is built on mutual interest, on mutual defense and I think there is no doubt whatsoever in the minds of the countries that make up the GCC that the United States will stand with them against any external threat," Kerry told reporters.

You’re running a confused government – Okogie blasts Buhari

You’re running a confused government – Okogie blasts Buhari

Arch Bishop Olubunmi Okogie

Archbishop Emeritus, Catholic Archdiocese Lagos, Cardinal Anthony Olubunmi Okogie, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of lopsided corruption war and acting contemptuously towards the judiciary while millions of Nigerians were left to face unimaginable social problems.

In a statement released by the Director of Social Communications of the Diocese, Monsignor Gabriel Osu, Okogie asked Buhari to urgently retool, refocus and aggressively lead by example on all fronts or risk plunging Nigeria into state of despondency.

He said that Buhari must also aggressively face the fiscal and monetary problems we have head on, without letting the anti corruption drive look like a political distraction.

Okojie who is dissatisfied with Buhari’s style of governance said:
“A snail paced and disordered methodology in governance, his apparent disdain for judicial authority and decisions, a lost today found tomorrow 2016 budget debacle, and a rather rudderless and confused Central Bank with an unclear monetary policy strategy (inevitably increasing the economic uncertainties being faced by Nigerians), have set alarm bells ringing in my mind and in the minds of many discerning Nigerians.

“Indeed, his perceived discordant relationship with the leadership of the Legislature has many naysayers chuckling and remarking that President Buhari’s government is heading rather naturally, into his comfort zone – a one man show.”
Okogie also noted that a lot of Nigerians are beginning to feel that Buhari is fast transforming this nation into a police state where Mr. President, the EFCC and DSS rule the day.
“What they say is given lurid headlines in the media, and it seems to all that some of the defendants/accused persons are being tried in the press with information conveniently slipping into the hands of the press, presumably from the security agencies, even before such people have been charged to court.”
He also frowned on the President’s refusal to heed court pronouncements regarding the bail granted to the Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu and former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki.
“The Pro-Biafran activist, Nnmadi Kanu and the erstwhile NSA Sambo Dasuki were granted bail by the courts but such bails were disregarded by the security agents under Buhari’s watch.
“Unfortunately, democracy is difficult and this government must realise that democracy pervasively coloured with impunity, arbitrariness and high handedness, cannot be used to fight and correct the financial impunity and reckless abandon of the previous administration, even if it is more difficult to do so, the rule of law must be obeyed and be the order of the day.”

Buhari is not Nigeria’s messiah, declares Bishop Kwakpovwe

PUBLISHER of the daily devotional booklet, Our Daily Manna, ODM, Bishop Chris Kwakpovwe has cautioned Nigerians especially those who believe that President Muhammadu Buhari is Nigeria’s messiah, pointing out that God’s promised messiah is yet to come.
The cleric noted that Buhari is the forerunner of the messiah who will bring some changes if only he maintained his integrity and do the right things, just as he condemned recent agitations for a sovereign state of Biafra, saying “Biafra is like thick cloud without water or rain.”

Buhari
The bishop, who is also the General Overseer of Manna Prayer Mountain, made these declarations at an interview session ahead of his ministry’s annual world anointing service scheduled for next Friday at the Tafawa Balewa Square TBS, Lagos. The theme of this year’s programme is: “Jehovah Ebenezer – Lord wipe my tears”.

“President Buhari is not the messiah; he is only preparing the way for the messiah who will eventually emerge. Buhari is like the John the Baptist. As a politician, Buhari will bring about some changes if he maintain his integrity and genuinely probe those he ought to probe,” he stated.

According to the bishop, there are certain persons who assisted the president to get to power who he would not be able to probe even when he knows that they are not innocent.

“The messiah who will genuinely transform our country will emerge. Buhari is not the messiah but we should be hopeful that one day, we will sing a new song,” he stated.

Pledging his unwavering believe in the unity of Nigeria, the cleric argued that the peace the country has enjoyed since after the Nigerian Civil War should not be broken by digging up residues of hate for the selfish interest of certain individuals seeking to balkanize the nation.

He therefore enjoined all the pro-Biafra protesters to tread with caution, sheathe their swords and dialogue with constituted authorities on issues that would bring about unity, peace and progress of the country.

In his words: “There is nothing like Biafra. Biafra is like thick cloud without water or rain. There will be no civil war, our brothers in the South East will enjoy President Muhammadu Buhari. They should just allow peace to reign. Whatever challenges, disagreements that may have re-surfaced, are not beyond our collective ability to resolve.”

On the world anointing night, Bishop Kwakpovwe said the annual programme has attracted millions since its inception 11 years ago, adding that this year’s edition will mark the end of a 21-day fasting and prayer, which began on January 9.

He said: “It is a night of 12 mantles and there will be series of testimonies, instant healing from God because God is going to visit His people. God has promised to wipe all tears and He asked me to tell the people to bring 12 mantles and these mantles are prophetic in nature.”

B/Haram: Defence Minister, CAS go arms-shopping in Moscow
Efforts to consolidate on the ongoing war against terrorism got a boost as the Defence Minister, Air Marshal Monsur Dan-Ali and Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Sadique Abubakar, yesterday night departed for Russia to purchase vital military hardware needed to sustain the tempo of aggression against the terrorists.
Competent sources in the Department of State Service (DSS) disclosed to our reporters that the duo left for Moscow to inspect the war planes ordered by Nigeria in order to give the Boko Haram elements a final push and ensure they never harassed any community once such an area is cleared.

Specifically, the top brass officials left Abuja to purchase two Mi-35 Attack Helicopters and 10 Mushak Super Trainers from Russia.

According to the source, which pleaded for anonymity, “this is towards the commencement of re-equipping of the Nigerian military. This time, government wants to ensure that Boko Haram insurgents never return to any community once they are flushed out.

“The military will utilise these war planes to carry out reconnaissance missions and rescue operations and also provide needed aerial support to our troops. What happened in the last dispensation is gradually being surmounted.

“Because of the current successes recorded against Boko Haram, they have not just been degraded but the morale of the officers and men fighting in the war theatre is very high”.

Nigeria suffered severe international military blockade since the insurgents began their debilitating activities leading to the take-over of more than 12 local government areas in the North-East geo-political zone.
Also, efforts made by the military authorities during the President Goodluck Jonathan administration to purchase needed ammunition were frustrated, leading to sourcing of arms from the black market and the consequent embarrassment to the country.
