I Saw A DSS Officer Cleaning The Shoe Of A Nigerian Minister In Public & I Begin To Ask Myself If This Are The CHANGES In APC Administration – IBB
This is what IBB Said after a Nigerian minister used a DSS officer as his shoe shiner

Below were his comments….
I saw a DSS officer cleaning the shoe of a certain Minister in public & I begin to ask myself if this are the CHANGES of the administration.

It’s really sad that this administration has changed the Department Of State Security I created few years ago to Department of Shoe Shiners.

I strongly believe the President has a good plans for this Nation, he is a man of integrity. My only worries are the Politicians around him.

Lagos, Nigeria - Violent Suppression Of Nonviolent Protests In Nigeria: Buhari Must Heed EU’s Advice
(Intersociety, Onitsha Nigeria, 21st January 2016)-First of all, we congratulate the newly emerged democratic forces and voices in Nigeria; which emergence followed the birth eight months ago of the chained democratic administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. Those worthy to mention are the frontline online media organizations including the Nigerian Voice, the Newsepress, Globalreportersvienna, Elombah News, Chidiopara Blog, the Trent News Online, Odogwureports, the Nigerian Masterweb, Allnewsandreports, News247, Republicreporters, Igberenews, the Nigerianlawyers Online News, Factreporters, Oderareports, the Willnigeria, the US-African Dialogue, Biafran News Reports, the Radio Biafra London (RBL); and the Streetreporters, the Naija News, the Naijalnd News, etc.

Our congratulation also goes to the Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp and those who use them in Nigeria to advance the promotion and protection of democracy, rule of law and constitutionalism in the country. Also congratulated are the Galaxy TV, the Vanguard Newspaper, the Guardian Newspaper, the Thisday Newspaper and rising democratic voices like Barr Ms Carol Ajie, Ms Aziza Uko, the Odumakins, etc as well as Nigeria’s newest leading human rights and pro rule of law advocacy organizations particularly HURIWA, Intersociety, Anambra CLO and Southeast Based Coalition of Human Rights Organizations. We congratulate as well the legal team of Citizen Nnamdi Kanu particularly the duo of Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Esq., and a respected member of the Silk: Nze Chuks Muoma, SAN. Barristers Egechukwu Obetta and Egbule are also commended for their courage and boldness; likewise the national leadership of the NBA for its recent commendable public position against Buhari’s gross contempt for rule of law in Nigeria. Courageous and un-purchasable members of the Bench including the CJN deserve commendation and a call to do more to ensure that judiciary remains the last hope of common person and bastion of democracy in Nigeria.
The recipients of our informed commendation above represent new faces of the defenders of democracy, rule of law and constitutionalism in Nigeria. They have by their recent identification with rule of law and constitutionalism in Nigeria unstoppably matched into the vacuum created by now retired democratic forces of the Southwest domination; who have disastrously chosen the path of entrepreneurship of dictatorship, lawlessness and un-constitutionalism in Nigeria; pillared by the administration of Muhammadu Buhari. The new faces of the defenders of democracy, rule of law and constitutionalism in Nigeria shall also become foundational members of newly formed Nigerian Pacifism Movement; a think tank opposing State violence (other than use for legitimate security and crime control), lawlessness, abuse of office and un-constitutionalism.

The reasons behind the above informed commendation of ours stem from achievements recorded so far in their struggles to save Nigeria’s democracy, human rights, rule of law and constitutionalism. One of such achievements is the campaign for unconditional release or fair treatment and trial of Citizen Nnamdi Kanu & ors leading to latest judicial pronouncement transferring him to Kuje prison from his murderous and tortuous 96 days detention under DSS captivity; a judicial decision the DSS frustratingly obeyed on account of sustained local and international pressures mounted against it as the most lawless security agency in Nigeria by referenced new faces of the defenders of rule of law and constitutionalism in Nigeria.

We wish to call on these new faces of the defenders of human rights, rule of law and constitutionalism in Nigeria not to rest on their oars because the battle has just begun. As new faces of the defenders of democracy, rule of law and constitutionalism in Nigeria, we must at all times remember and arm ourselves with Gani Fawehimni’s three weapons against dictatorship and other social injustices, which are: knowledge of the law, facts and figures and consistency. As the immortal saying goes; “a drop of water makes hole in stone; not by violence but by often fall”.

Violent Suppression of Nonviolent Protests in Nigeria: Documented statistics available at our disposal clearly indicate that massive application of State violence outside local and international norms to violently suppress the pro Biafran nonviolent protests in Nigeria between 30th August 2015 and 18th January 2016; a period of less than five months, have led to gruesome murder by security forces of at least 50 Nigerian citizens. These included four citizens killed in Awka and Onitsha on 30th August 2015; 13 killed in Onitsha on 2nd December 2015; 12 killed in Onitsha on 17th December 2015 (eight were killed on the spot and four others died in hospital following gunshot wounds); and eight killed in Aba on 18th January 2016. Scores of innocent citizens have also disappeared in the hands of Nigerian security forces particularly the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force. Citizens are routinely arrested by Police on allegation of being “MASSOB or IPOB members” and killed secretly and buried in undisclosed shallow graves; likewise those shot and killed by soldiers and police while embarking on peaceful protests. Once their bodies are taken away by their killer security operatives, they will never be accounted for or released to their families for befitting burials.

Further, over 120 citizens were shot and critically injured with gunshots in Delta, Rivers, Anambra, Abia and Enugu States between 30th August 2015 and 18th January 2016. Of these, over 40 citizens were critically shot and injured in Anambra (30th August, 2nd and 17th December 2015); 30 in Abia State (18th January 2016 alone), 21 in Rivers State (30th August 2015); 10 in Delta State (30th August 2015) and 6 in Enugu State. These exclude scores of others critically shot and injured in related nonviolent protests in those States as well as Bayelsa State.

Among those critically shot and injured in Rivers by Nigerian Army and the Police including their mobile lines are Citizens Sunday Udegbe (08160946188), Nwabunne Udo (no number), Agwasi Anthony (08167834881), Meshach Emmanuel (08176464439), Chinwendu Ogbonna (08161840331),Amanda Onyekachi (08098649766), Emmanuel Arinze (08069667733), Okwudiri Ojah (08064551694), Chibuike David (08162879531),Uzochi Ugwojialili (07037701738); Chukwuma Igwe (07038524167), Kingsley Okere (08095527180), Chinedu Solomon Iwu (09034451844), Okon Emmanuel Udo (08132211725), Kelechi Uwaeze (08162093292), Uwalaka (07030463326), Solomon Chikwe (08037677503), Ikenna Ezekwem (07030334626), Ubani (08145558128), Amarachi Onyemachi (07031250438) and Chukwudi Ofoegbuliwe (08168944577). In Enugu State, the following were critically shot and injured, Mr. Godswill Ojikeme (08069283046), Mrs. Chinyere Godswill Ojikeme (08108156453), Ogbodo Monday (08186845441), Jonah Kelechi (07055762590), Onuigbo Paul (08180094127) and Obiorah Innocent (08142553818).

Those gravely shot and wounded in Delta State are: Chinedu Abel (08138655496), Onovo Michael (09038654579), Kingsley Anuife (07066333801), Amechi Ojieh (07069039930), Ogbonna Kanayo (09099221978), David Ogbu (08168868302), Charles Chukwuka (07011001409), Elochukwu Uzor (08052783369), Chinedu Chukwuma (09053081522) and Onyekanna Ifechukwude (08144142575). Those critically shot and injured on 30th August 2015 in Anambra State are: Sampson Kalu (08149301083), Chidiebere Nnaji (08063110151), Onyekwelu Ovute (08035132025), Felix Ndianaefo (08137358206), Ikechukwu Okafor (08098896344), Chimaobi Okafor (09099735103), Christopher Oforah (08092188866), Sunday Nwazugbo (08033517008), Stanley Eze (08060911589), Mrs. Eucharia (08065697342) and Mrs. Patricia (07069707424). Two of the four citizens killed in Awka and Onitsha in the same peaceful protest of 30th August 2015 were Ebuka Nnolum from Enuguabo-Ufuma in Anambra State (his father’s number is 08034615426 07084367400) and Obasi Maduka from Oshiri in Ebonyi State (his brother’s number is 08165443726). In the 2nd and 17th December 2015 peaceful protests in Onitsha, over 30 citizens were critically shot and injured, out of whom, 27 citizens were taken and admitted at the Multicare Hospital.

Between 300 and 400 citizens or more labeled “Biafran or IPOB or MASSOB members” had also been arrested, detained, tortured, or killed extra judicially across the country since 30th of August 2015. In the Aba pro Biafran peaceful protest of 18th January 2016 alone, 60 peaceful protesters were arrested and detained. Many are still languishing in pretrial detention; others are facing concocted heinous political crimes charges such as treason and treasonable felony.

Why Buhari Must Heed EU’s Advice: In the world over, violent suppression of nonviolent protests by territorial governments have always boomeranged; leading the suppressed to abandon nonviolent approaches and resort to self help or self defense approaches including defensive armed rebellions. Most of the ongoing devastating intra State violent conflicts in Africa and the Middle East primarily started as nonviolent socio-political or ethno-cultural campaigns, but turned violent on account of the host States’ repressive and dictatorial responses. A newest case in point is seeming resumption of oil violence in the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria.

Consequently, the latest advice handed down to the Government of Muhammadu Buhari by the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security, Ms Federica Mogherini, is a welcome development, timely and internationally grounded. The EU High Representative had advised Buhari that in as much as, the European Union has strong diplomatic and economic ties with Nigeria, “protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms remains a priority for the EU and we encourage the authorities (Nigeria) in every occasion to respect such rights”. The EU, on the other hand, advised pro Biafran campaigners and the Organization of Emerging African States (OEAS) “that self-determination and border changes must be in accordance with established international law. This followed the OEAS call for an internationally recognized referendum on Biafra independence or autonomy. The EU further advised that “it will only recognize a Biafra born via international law and not (through) armed secession (or rebellion)”.

The EU’s advice is totally in agreement with our public position on the same issue, to the effect that the Buhari administration must refrain from massive deployment of State violence and use of dark side of the laws of the land as well as levying of political, economic, social, ethnic and cultural wars against members of the Nigeria’s Igbo and other Southern nationalities. We had also advised the pro Biafran agitators to at all time stick to nonviolent and peaceful approaches and stay away from resorting to violence or armed rebellion. To the best of our knowledge, the agitations and their campaigners have remained nonviolent till date; as opposed to the Buhari administration which had applied and still apply maximum and dreaded State terror in handling the political self determination campaigns.

SaharaReporters has learned that President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the Nigerian Embassy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to investigate, document, and submit the list of all Nigerian public officials with assets in the UAE. Our sources said Mr. Buhari had also set a deadline of March 31, 2016 for the completion of the compilation.

Buhari leaves Abuja for South Africa
The presidential deadline comes on the heels of bilateral agreements signed earlier this week between Nigeria and the UAE to facilitate the extradition of suspects wanted in Nigeria as well as the repatriation of stolen assets back to Nigeria.

Presidency sources told a correspondent of SaharaReporters that Nigeria’s ambassador to the UAE, Ibrahim Auwalu, had been asked to extend his term of service to ensure that the list is accurately compiled and submitted to Mr. Buhari. One source disclosed that, upon completion of the assignment, the president was likely to appoint a replacement for Mr. Auwalu.

The UAE has become an important destination for numerous former and serving public officials since President Buhari’s inauguration at the end of May 2015. Many Nigerian officials with assets and real estate in the UAE, especially Dubai, have fled there hoping for sanctuary from Mr. Buhari’s prosecution for corruption.

Nigeria’s bilateral agreement with the UAE is part of the Buhari administration’s agenda to set in motion legal mechanisms to facilitate the arrest of corrupt politicians who flee to the UAE and the repatriation of their stolen assets.

SaharaReporters has exclusively obtained the names of numerous public officials and politically exposed persons who own real estate in Dubai. The list include former Comptroller-General of Customs, Abdullahi Dikko, former President Goodluck Jonathan’s special assistant on domestic matters, Waripamowei Dudafa, a former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Adamu Muazu, former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, Mr. Jonathan’s former campaign spokesman, Femi Fani-Kayode, former Minister of Transportation, Idris Umar, former Minister for the Niger Delta, Godsday Orubebe, former Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke (who recently moved to The Hague), former Minister of State for Finance, Bashir Yuguda, who has been indicted in Nigeria, former Governor of Bauchi State, Isa Yuguda, former Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu, and former First Lady Patience Jonathan.

Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State is also reported to have a property in Dubai.
One source told SaharaReporters that the list of serving and former public officials with assets and real estate in Dubai and other parts of the UAE is expected to grow much longer by the March 31deadline. Another source disclosed that many Nigerian officials used fake names, offshore corporations and beneficial owners to acquire their swanky, high-priced homes in the UAE.

The Nigeria Police Force has introduced a new uniform for operatives attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad across the country.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni while disclosing this on Friday said the move was meant to engender effective operation and to check the excesses of the unit and also help stop numerous cases of impersonation.

The all-black uniform, which comprises black trousers, T-shirt and a jacket, also has a number inscribed on it to indicate the state command, which an operative belongs to.

Actor, Kenneth Okonkwo Drags Buhari to Court!

ken Okonkwo

Barrister and actor, Kenneth Okonkwo has sued President Buhari to Court over ministerial appointments. The suit which comes up in the Federal High Court, Abuja with suit no: FHC/ ABJ / CS / 34 / 16 was to compel the President to appoint an indegene of the FCT as a Minister in Nigeria.

Speaking with Diamond Celebrities, Kenneth said : On November 11th, 2015, President Muhammadu Buhari inaugurated 36 ministers from the 36 states of Nigeria without appointing an indigene of the Federal Capital Territory as Minister. This is unconstitutional and discriminatory and has led to tensions in the FCT as the indigenes are becoming restive. All efforts to get the President to appoint an indegene of the FCT failed hence the need for this suit to compel the President to do the needful and avert a possible break down of law and order with catastrophic consequences in the FCT.

JUST IN!!! Kanu: Archbishop Okogie Lambasts Buhari Over Disregard to Court Orders, Poor Economypmb xx

The Archbishop Emeritus of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, Cardinal Anthony Olubunmi Okogies, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently retool, refocus and aggressively lead by example on all fronts or risk plunging Nigeria into a state of despondency.

In a statement released by the Director of Social Communications of the Diocese, Monsignor Gabriel Osu, Okogie accused the president of waging a shoddy corruption war and acting disdainfully towards the judicial authorities while millions of Nigerians were left to face unimaginable social problems.

“He must retool, refocus and aggressively face the social, economic (fiscal and monetary) problems we have head on, without letting the anti corruption drive look like a political distraction,” the cardinal noted. Expressing disenchantment with the president’s style, Okogie said: “A snail paced and disordered methodology in governance, his apparent disdain for judicial authority and decisions, a lost today found tomorrow 2016 budget debacle, and a rather rudderless and confused Central Bank with an unclear monetary policy strategy (inevitably increasing the economic uncertainties being faced by Nigerians), have set alarm bells ringing in my mind and in the minds of many discerning Nigerians.

“Indeed, his perceived discordant relationship with the leadership of the Legislature has many naysayers chuckling and remarking that President Buhari’s government is heading rather naturally, into his comfort zone – a one man show.”

Okogie also noted that a lot of Nigerians are beginning to feel that Buhari is fast transforming this nation into a police state where Mr. President, the EFCC and DSS rule the day.

His words: “What they say is given lurid headlines in the media, and it seems to all that some of the defendants/accused persons are being tried in the press with information conveniently slipping into the hands of the press, presumably from the security agencies, even before such people have been charged to court.”

He said: “The Pro-Biafran activist, Nnmadi Kanu and the erstwhile NSA Sambo Dasuki were granted bail by the courts but such bails were disregarded by the security agents under Buhari’s watch. Unfortunately, democracy is difficult and this government must realise that democracy pervasively coloured with impunity, arbitrariness and high handedness, cannot be used to fight and correct the financial impunity and reckless abandon of the previous administration, even if it is more difficult to do so, the rule of law must be obeyed and be the order of the day.

He also frowned on the President’s refusal to heed court pronouncements regarding the bail granted to the Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu and former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki.

“If Buhari wants to leave a creditable legacy come 2019 he should retool the bureaucracy. For instance, the roof of the Central Bank is leaking water.

Governors, who arm-twisted Okonjo Iweala into signing out our reserves held by Central Bank, are today ministers in the APC government. We are still talking about change and corruption when old things refuse to pass away! These political gimmicks can only carry away gullible or naive Nigerians. President Buhari should beam his flash light on policies and programmes that will lift up the Masses. “Existing industries are almost dead and call for urgent revitalization.

The budget ought to aid solutions to the mass unemployment, Rural-Urban migration, skewedness in the distribution of income, abject rural poverty and industrialization of rural economy.

The 774 local government capitals should be linked to their state capitals. Even the mind boggling infrastructure deficits can take the entire tenure to address.

The weakness in the bureaucracy has not been addressed. Consequently, the problem the APC government is trying to solve is bound to re-occur because it is treatment of effect rather than the cause. Causative factors are being totally ignored or glossedover. Institutional weakness pervades the MDAs, offices of the Accountant General, Auditor General and the Central Bank itself.” He observed that leakages in the economy had remained unnoticed and unplugged over the last 16 years of uninterrupted democracy.
“Our Change must change something. How could we continue to talk of change in a static system? How could we be talking of change when the same crew are governors, ministers, senators, and members of the House of Representatives?

This is a cyclical devolution of power to the same people who are never out of power! “What sort of change is the President talking about? When will the youth take over when even a governor does not take a bow and go? When shall we plan for the replacement of delinquent leadership? This is what constitutes change.
Change is not changing from Jonathan to Buhari, Okoie asked. According to the Cardinal, “Change is behavioural and pervades all levels of society including the family, the church, the mosque, schools, market women and business men. “When we talk of change, we talk of positive-salutary, healthy growth and development oriented change that cuts across the entire gamut of the society.

What sort of change is this that ignores the glaring un-equal distribution of national income?

It is absurd that the same government that is unable to pay N18, 000 per month to the lowest grade of labour can afford to pay N1.8 Million per month to anyone in the economy.

Why must tax payers’ money be used to feed Mr. President and his family?

“Why must the tax payers’ money be used to buy brand new exotic vehicles for the legislatures, judges, ministers and governors when they are heavily paid?

Why don’t they use loan finance and mortgage finance to buy their cars and houses?

This is also a form of looting and it is the cause of grounding the economy and calling in IMF spin-doctor all the time.

Precisely two years ago this same President Buhari rejected off hand this use of spindoctor to heal the ailing economy.

He preferred the use of counter trade and inward looking policies like cutting down cost and flamboyant exotic life styles.

“Today I am not so sure we have the same Buhari. I do hope he has not changed all the colours of the rainbow. The ruling elites are living a luxurious life while the masses are in abject poverty and yet we are all Nigerians. Enough of this change-conundrum,” the Cardinal warned.

APC says panel report on former Anambra lawmaker, Ekwunife is Inconclusive

APC says panel report on former Anambra lawmaker, Ekwunife is Inconclusive

The All Progressives Congress has said it would await the completion of its senatorial primary election for Anambra Central, in an apparent rejection of a report by its panel recommending the disqualification of a former House of Representatives member, Uche Ekwunife, from contesting for the seat, on an APC ticket. The report by a screening committee, headed by Osita Okechukwu, had recommended the denial of the party’s ticket to Ms. Ekwunife, calling her a “fair weather hen” who changed political parties at will.

Ms. Ekwunife is a former member of at least four political parties. Her election as a senator, on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, was annulled by the courts, prompting a rerun.

Ahead of the fresh polls, she defected to the ruling APC.

The screening committee of the party selected Sharon Ikeazor, a former interim woman leader of the party, as its candidate in the election.

But in a statement Thursday night, the APC national secretary, Bala Buni, said it would allow its primary election for the Anambra seat to be concluded.

“The All Progressives Congress warns against the declaration of any result from the Anambra Central Senatorial primary election conducted by the party,” Mr. Buni said.
