Lagos – Nigerian winger Jesse Sekidika has signed a contract with Portuguese side Benfica.
The 18-year-old will feature for Benfica U-19 team which plays in the UEFA Youth Cup among other competitions.
Sekidika was born on July 14th 1996 in Port Harcourt. He left Nigeria at the age of 15 years to Brooke House College & Football Academy in Leicester, England, and graduated as the best graduating Academy Player in July 2014.
In July 2013, he attended a trial at English Premiership League club, Stoke City, and excelled at the trial, which prompted Stoke City’s interest in signing him. Whilst playing for Stoke City at the 2013 Keele Cup, Sekidika was also scouted by two senior Manchester United scouts who expressed interest in assessing him further at their Carrington training ground.
However, due to the stringent requirement of a British work permit and not having a European Passport, Sekidika could not be offered a contract at Stoke City or Manchester United.
In August 2014, he joined the Under-19 team of Portuguese amateur club, A.D. Oeiras, which is a feeder-club to some of Portugal’s Primeira League sides. After about 12 weeks at A.D. Oeiras, Jesse was scouted and identified by Benfica after showcasing his talents for A.D. Oerias U-19s in a match against Benfica U-19s.
He was invited to the camp of the Flying Eagles in January 2013 among eight other foreign based players, but was pegged with school activities. He is however hoping to make a return to the national team.

Aliyu denies endorsing Buhari
He accused Buhari of truncating his political ambition in 1983 when he overthrew the democratically elected government of President Shehu Shagari.
Apparently referring to some reports which listed Aliyu as one of the governors who was sympathetic to the candidature of Buhari, Aliyu noted that he believed in loyalty and would not leave his political party and support someone from another political party.
The governor said though the APC presidential candidate may be honest, his honesty may not translate to good public policies.

Top Muslim body calls for crucifixion
2015-02-04 15:47
Cairo - Al-Azhar, Sunni Islam's most prestigious centre of
learning, expressed outrage at the Islamic State (ISIS) group for
burning to death a captive Jordanian pilot, saying its militants deserve
to be killed or crucified.
After a video was released showing the caged fighter pilot, Maaz al-Kassasbeh, dying engulfed in flames, the Cairo-based authority's head, Ahmed al-Tayib, expressed his "strong dismay at this cowardly act".
This "requires the punishment mentioned in the Qur'an for these corrupt oppressors who fight against God and his prophet: killing, crucifixion or chopping of the limbs."
"Islam forbids killing of the innocent human soul... It forbids mutilating the human soul by burning or in any other way even during wars against an enemy that attacks you," Tayib added in a statement.
ISIS itself has implemented such punishments against its own members for robbery at checkpoints or stealing funds from religious endowments in territories controlled by the group in Iraq and Syria.

Osinbajo slams Jonathan for attending Islamic meetings

Osinbajo stated that because Nigeria is not a Islamic state, as it has Christians as well, the president should not be going to IOC meetings, as the country is not a Islamic state.
President Jonathan had attended the OIC meeting, making him the first president to do so since Nigeria was surreptitiously enlisted by President Ibrahim Babangida in 1986.
