President reveals why he won’t resign from office

Zimbabwean President, Robert Mugabe has likened members of his party demanding for his resignation to biblical Judas Iscariot.

It is alleged that members of ZANU-PF, the party of the 93-year-old, have privately been pushing for the retirement of Mugabe, who has been in power since the country gained independence in 1980.
Speaking during the burial of a member of the party, Mugabe insisted he would remain as President.
Mugabe also accused some party officials of supporting him during the day while plotting against him behind his back.

He said, “Others are like those that Jesus spoke about during his last supper, when he said ‘some of you eating with me here shall betray me’.
“The Judas Iscariot, they are here among us. They want to cause leadership change for the president to step down.

“I did not grab power. I was chosen by the people. It’s the people’s throne.
“When the day comes I will say thank you to my Zimbabwean family and I will step down so you can choose my successor. But for now, I am the one in charge.”

Designating Biafra’s Nnamdi Kanu as an Internationally Protected Person

The United Nations Security Council, under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter should designate Biafra’s Nnamdi Kanu as an “internationally protected person” as defined in the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Crimes Against Internationally Protected Persons, Including Diplomatic Agents. Article I of the Convention defines an “internationally protected person as “A Head of State, including any member of a collegial body performing the functions of a Head of State under the constitution of the State concerned, a Head of Government or a Minister of Foreign Affairs, whenever such person is in a foreign state ….”

Nnamdi Kanu is de facto a member of a body of Biafrans who collectively perform the functions of a Head of State in seeking to protect the physical safety and security of Biafrans in Nigeria’s South East region from the murderous Hausa-Fulani Islamic government of Nigeria headed by former military dictator Muhammadu Buhari. Mr. Buhari was elected President of Nigeria under an illegitimate constitution decreed in 1999 by a fellow military dictator for the purpose of holding Biafrans in bondage to Hausa-Fulani terrorists.

At present, Mr. Buhari has dispatched Nigeria’s Hausa-Fulani dominated military to occupy and impose de facto martial law on Biafra’s civilian population. Nigeria’s illegitimate Muslim government has concocted bogus treason charges against Mr. Kanu.

Nigeria’s military has quarantined Mr. Kanu’s home and killed his supporters. It has placed him under de facto house arrest. It has recently, summarily, and absurdly designated the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as a terrorist organization in a secret Star Chamber process denuded of any trappings of due process. In fact, IPOB is a peaceful political group led in part by Mr. Kanu that seeks restructuring of Nigeria in conformity with time-honored principles of self-determination. The bogus terrorist label has been attached to IPOB by the Hausa-Fulani Government of Nigeria in hopes of excusing its ongoing genocide of Biafrans based exclusively on their religion or ethnicity. State governors in the five Biafran states in Nigeria are not independent actors, but puppets or quislings of Mr. Buhari.

IPOB Members In Austria Protest With Coffin At British Embassy (Photos)

Earlier today, members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) took their agitation to the streets of Austria as they protested at the British Embassy in Vienna, the country’s capital city. The pro-Biafra group which displayed a coffin painted in Nigerian colour – revealed that they are protesting against the killings of their members during the military raid at the home of their leader in Umuahia, Abia.

Opposition using restructuring to destroy Nigeria – Presidency

Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has said opposition is using restructuring to destroy Nigeria.

Adesina, speaking at the 5th anniversary lecture of News Express on Thursday, also stated that the country was positioned to automatically restructure itself.

Commenting on the lecture delivered by Niger state Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, who was represented by Jibrin Ndache, his chief press secretary, Adesina said the outcome of the 2015 election was a manifestation of self-restructuring.

“There is something that has been naturally built into Nigeria that makes it to self-restructure.
“The 2015 election, you know it got to a point that former President Obasanjo described it as “any other person but Jonathan (APBJ).

“The 2015 election showed us that Nigeria is naturally configured for self-restructuring. You know the current president has run for three times. Automatically, he had 12 million votes waiting for him in the northern part of the country but that was enough.

“And then in 2015, there was a handshake and middle-belt, south-west, they all teamed up. It was the DG of the campaign then, Rotimi Amaechi who said that the political map of Nigeria had been redrawn, and there was no way the incumbent president was winning. And it turned out to be true. That was the kind of restructuring that brought change to Nigeria.

“Nigeria is positioned for automatic self-restructuring. But that is not to say that restructuring debate should not continue,” Adesina said.

The presidential spokesman said there was no given definition of restructuring, alleging that the opposition was using restructuring as a tool to destabilise the government.

“The areas of restructuring are yet to be defined. Ask 100 people what is restructuring and you will get 100 different answers.

“It shows you that there is no unanimity on what restructuring really is. So how then do you begin to work on restructuring when it has not properly been defined,” Adesina asked.

No wonder the APC now said OK, we will set up a committee to go round the country and find out what people understand by restructuring and what they what to see in restructuring.

“And then a lot of people say the president does not believe in restructuring. Not exactly. The APC has a manifesto and in inside that manifesto is devolution of power. What some people want is to see the entire thing in the manifesto being done in six months. It doesn’t work that way. The mandate is a four-year mandate.

“People that are agitating for restructuring, I may be wrong but my feeling is that they have turned it into another tool of opposition. It is a covert way of opposing the government of the day.

“If you oppose the government of the day to the extent that you distract it, what should be achieved would then not be achieved at the end of the time. Therefore, people who are sincere about restructuring and who want to see a tweaking of the configuration of our country, there is nothing wrong with it.

“If you read in between the lines, what people that canvass restructuring seeks at the substratum level is the fact that they want to break the country, what they want is dismemberment.

“The governing party believes in restructuring because devolution of power is a form of restructuring. I have heard the president say it many times that we did not fight that civil war to keep Nigeria one and then we will sit down and watch some people want to dismember this country.

“So, a restructuring that will deepen our unity is good but restructuring that will fragment the country is bad and no government, no president who has sworn to uphold the constitution, because the constitution recognises a united and indivisible country will agree to that kind of restructuring that they are trumpeting,” Adesina added.

Fayose Reveals Those He will arrest when He become president

Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has said that those arresting people today will be arrested tomorrow.

This followed his insistence that he will become Nigeria’s next president.

Fayose, in a series of tweets on Thursday night, was reacting to the arrest of Toyin Ojo, his Commissioner for Finance.

The Governor insinuated that some people in Aso Villa were using the security and anti-graft agencies to intimidate him.

“The arrestors of today would be arrested tomorrow.
“Those who gave reasons@realDonaldTrump won’t be POTUS know better now. I want to be President of Nigeria, that’s what I will be.

“They think they can use @officialEFCC to intimidate us, we are waiting. But tell the Villa hawks that last year, they used DSS, it failed.

“They remembered bailout fund the moment I made it public that I was declaring for President. So, Ekiti was the only state that got bailout?,” Fayose tweeted.

Arewa youths’ quit notice: Leave North now – Lawyers warn Igbos

Concerned lawyers in Onitsha, Anambra state have advised Igbo living in the North to adhere to the quit notice earlier issued by Northern youth coalition.

The lawyers, led by Barr. Samuel Okechukwu, told newsmen in Onitsha, that Igbo people in the region should return home before October 1 whether the threat to their lives will be carried out or not.
Others at the briefing were Messrs Chukwukelu, Ben Okoko and Maurice Efobi.

The lawyers noted that there are comfortable homes in Igbo land that will accommodate sons and daughters of Ndigbo.

They insisted that returning home was better than being in a land where their lives were subjected to risk.
According to them, “threat of such nature which borders on the national security, lives and properties of free citizens of the country ought not to be taken for granted.”

They further warned that Ndigbo must not allow events of 1966 to repeat.

Abaribe ‘attacks’ Nigerian govt for declaring IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu terrorists

The Chairman of the South-East Senate caucus, Enyinnaya Abaribe has lambasted the Federal Government over its decision to proscribe the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, under the leadership of Nnamdi Kanu.

Abaribe, who signed Kanu’s bail bond, likened the decision of the Federal Government to killing a fly with a sledgehammer.

Speaking in Aba, Abia State, Abaribe said, “The South-East Senate Caucus disagrees with the Nigerian government in saying that IPOB is a terrorist organisation.

“We feel it is too strong a gambit to use. We feel that you cannot kill a fly with a sledge-hammer.
“You cannot proscribe a group of people; you cannot leave glaring evidence of those who actually work against the unity of this country, those who are actually killing people, those who are actually taking up arms against this country and then you turn around and say that these people have a potential to do so, therefore you now go ahead to declare them a terrorist organization with the implications for this country that are very glaring.”

Seized $15.5m: Court hears Patience Jonathan, Skye Bank’s suit November 2

The Federal High Court in Lagos has fixed November 2 for hearing in the N200m fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by wife of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience, against Skye Bank Plc.
Also joined as defendants in the suit are a former Special Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on Domestic Affairs, Waripamo-Owei Dudafa; and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Four firms linked to Dudafa were also joined as defendants in the suit.

They are Pluto Property and Investment Company Limited; Seagate Property Development & Investment Co. Limited; Trans Ocean Property and Investment Company Limited and Development Company Limited; and Globus Integrated Service Limited.

Patience filed the suit to protest against the ‘No Debit Order’ placed by the EFCC on the bank accounts of the four companies domiciled in Skye Bank.

The four companies were said to have a total of $15.5m in their bank accounts, which the EFCC had since last year July frozen.

The EFCC froze the accounts while investigating Dudafa for money laundering.
But Patience claims that the funds in the companies’ accounts belonged to her though she was not a signatory to any of the accounts.

In an affidavit filed in support of the suit, one Sammie Somiari explained that Patience had asked Dudafa to help her open five bank accounts only for Dudafa to open one in Patience’s name and four others in the names of companies linked to him.

According to Somiari, Dudafa had on March 22, 2010 brought two Skye Bank officers, Demola Bolodeoku and Dipo Oshodi, to meet Patience at home to open five accounts.

He, however, claimed that after the five accounts were opened, Patience later discovered that Dudafa opened only one of the accounts in her name while the other four were opened in the names of companies belonging to Dudafa.

Somiari added, “The applicant (Patience) complained about this to Honourable Dudafa, who, at his prompting and instance, promised to effect the change of the said accounts to the applicant’s name; and to effect this change, Honourable Dudafa brought the said bank manager, Mr. Dipo Oshodi, who purported to have effected the changes. This was about April 2014.”

Quit notice: Kaduna gets bench warrant to arrest northern youths

The Kaduna State Government on Thursday said it had obtained a bench warrant from the court to arrest members of the Coalition of Northern Youths who gave October 1, 2017, as deadline for Ndigbo in the North to quit or be forced out of the region.

This was despite the withdrawal of the quit notice by the group.
A coalition of northern groups, including the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum led Shettima Yerima, had in July given all the Igbo resident in the 19 states of the North a three-month ultimatum to quit or be forced out after the expiration of the October 1, 2017, deadline.

They also asked all northerners resident in the South-East to get prepared and return to the North.
The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai had earlier ordered the arrest of the principal actors who signed the ‘Kaduna declaration.’

The declaration was signed by Nastura Ashir Sharif (Arewa Citizens Action for Change); Ambassador ShettimaYerima (Arewa Youth Consultative Forum); Aminu Adam (Arewa Youth Development Foundation); Alfred Solomon (Arewa Students Forum); and Abdul-Azeez Suleiman (Northern Emancipation Network) as well as JoshuaViashman (Northern Youth Vanguard).

However, on Thursday, the state government obtained a bench warrant from the court to arrest those that issued the quit notice ultimatum.

Addressing a press conference at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House, Kaduna, the state capital, El-Rufai’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, however, assured residents including the Igbo, that they had nothing to fear.

He said the assurance was given by the Kaduna State Government which commended all residents and communities in the state for their contributions to peace and harmony.

The government, he added, informed residents that law enforcement and security agencies were taking necessary actions to prevent any threat to peace.

Aruwan said the state government was steadfast about enforcing the law and in keeping the peace, disclosing that the government had taken further actions in relation to those persons that were threatening the liberty of other citizens.

“The government has obtained a bench warrant for their arrest, after filing a formal criminal complaint,” he said.

Aruwan added, “The Kaduna State Government notes, with commendation, the efforts of the residents of our diverse state to uphold peace in their communities. The government and the security agencies are working to prevent any threat to this cherished harmony. Vigorous security patrols will continue as part of concrete actions to reassure residents and demonstrate that bad behaviour is unwelcome and will not be tolerated.

“When some elements barged into our state capital to deliver an illegal ultimatum to a section of our community, the government condemned it and ordered the arrest of those concerned. The Kaduna State Government followed up with a formal criminal complaint to the police, and has obtained a bench warrant against them. Therefore, anybody that sights them or is aware of their location should proudly discharge the civic duty of informing the police.

“The criminal complaint specifies the sections of the recently updated Penal Code Law of Kaduna State, 2017 that were violated by those that issued the illegal ultimatum. These include inciting disturbance: Section 78; disturbing public peace: Section 77; injurious falsehood: Section 373; unlawful assembly: Section 66; and criminal conspiracy: Section 59.

“The formal criminal complaint and the bench warrant secured on the 8th August, 2017 provide a basis to investigate, apprehend and ultimately prosecute the suspects.”

IPOB leader, Kanu, not in military custody – Nigerian Army

Authoritative sources from the Nigerian Army have said the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, is not in military custody.

The sources, from the army headquarters, Abuja, and the 82 Division headquarters, Enugu State, which coordinates Operation Python Dance II, told one of our correspondents on Thursday that Kanu was not arrested or detained, as being speculated.

Kanu’s lawyers on Wednesday filed a suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja praying for an order, directing the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, to produce Kanu in court.

The lawyers, led by Ifeanyi Ejiofor, had declared Kanu missing, saying the IPOB leader was last seen after the September 14 invasion of his residence in Afara-Ukwu area of Abia State by soldiers.

But an authoritative source from the army headquarters said, “If you follow the trends of things, the army has not been talking about a proscribed group. If someone says he does not know where Kanu is, who gave him the authority to file a motion against the army?

“We don’t want to be drawn into this propaganda. For goodness sake, if we have Kanu, of what use is it if we keep quiet? We have never been secretive. Nobody prompted us before we came out to talk about Egwu Eke II starting in the South-East. Nobody prompted us before we came out to say that despite all the pressures, we were not withdrawing the operation. The exercise is still ongoing.”

Also, the source from 82 Division headquarters, Enugu, who did not want his name in print, replied our correspondent’s enquiry through a text message.
“Kanu is not with us. And I am not aware of his whereabouts,” it read.

But Kanu’s younger brother simply identified as Fine Boy, had on September 17 refused to tell newsmen where his brother was, adding that only the IPOB leader could disclose his hiding place.

He said, “Only my brother can tell Nigerians where he is, I can’t. I don’t know why the Army should call IPOB a terrorist organisation, it is out of their desperation to arrest Nnamdi and frustrate the Biafran struggle. We have petitioned the United Nations and the European Union.

“…Nnamdi will soon disclose his current location and IPOB will also react to the proscription of the group by the South-East Governors’ Forum.”

The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Sani Usman, could not be reached for comment as of press time.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the South-East caucus in the Senate, Enyinnaya Abaribe, who stood as surety for Kanu, has said he should not be held liable if Kanu does not show up on October 17, which is the next hearing.

Abaribe said this on Thursday on a Channels TV programme, Sunrise Daily, noting that the alleged invasion of Kanu’s home in Abia State by troops of the Nigerian Army, was done “18 days before Kanu is to appear in court.”

Some senators had on Tuesday in a closed-door session, reportedly lashed out at Abaribe for accepting to stand as a surety for Kanu and for meeting with the IPOB members, claiming that the senator supported IPOB activities.

Abaribe on Thursday, however, said his meeting with the IPOB members was to find, “lasting peace” to the crisis. The senator said no one could say whether Kanu was dead or alive after the army’s invasion.
He said, “One of the very unfortunate issues is that when people don’t want to address issues, they abuse or personalise issues. I stood surety for him (Kanu). Put it in perspective; he is supposed to appear in court on October 17. Then one month prior to his appearance, September 14 – clearly one month – the army now invaded his house and his village, and since then, nobody has heard from him.”

Also, IPOB has described President Muhammadu Buhari as a godfather of terrorists.
In a statement in Awka, Anambra State, on Thursday by the Media and Publicity Secretary of the proscribed pro-Biafran group, Emma Powerful, IPOB alleged that Buhari was a sponsor of several terrorist organisations including Boko Haram.

IPOB names outspoken Turkish official, Erkahraman as envoy for Middle East, Asia

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has announced outspoken Turkish citizen, Mr. Abdulkadir Erkahraman as its official representative on international relations in the Middle East and Asia.

The group described Erkahraman as the current President of International Nations Commercial Association based in Turkey and an adviser to its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Recall that Erkahraman faulted the deployment of soldiers to the South East by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government.

IPOB, however, alleged that the government had invited him to visit Nigeria and make a television broadcast publicly renouncing his support for Biafra.

In a statement yesterday, IPOB spokesman, Emma Powerful, again lamented that labeling the peaceful group, as terrorist organisation “is an act designed to alienate friends of Biafra from publicly associating with the IPOB movement for self-determination, accusing the Nigerian government of working to isolate the movement for Biafra restoration away from international supporters.”

The group warned that scare tactics will not work because “Erkahraman is a conscientious Muslim who understands what human rights is all about, the need to preserve same and believes that freedom for Biafra supersedes everything else in life, even his own religion.”

“When he visited our leader in his home town Afaraukwu Ibeku Umuahia, their discussions focused exclusively on areas of infrastructural development and how such partnerships can be developed to help alleviate the suffering of the people of Biafra.

“He is not a Turkish diplomat, he has never claimed to be one and our leader did not receive him in such capacity. Those on online news platforms in Nigeria referring to him as a diplomat are deliberately misleading their readers.

“Some of these publishers are nothing more than sponsored agents, in the pay of the Ministry of Information, hoping to tarnish the image of Erkahraman and Biafra”, the group said.

IPOB further called on the government of Turkey and President Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan, to look critically at the activities of the government of Nigeria.

We Will Support IPOB If…. – House Of Reps React

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara has said that lawmakers can only support issues that have substance within the confines of the law and not contrary.
Dogara was reacting the recent calls for secession by the Indigenous people of Biafra(IPOB) group. Igbere TV  learned that he also spoke on the calls for restructuring, adding that ‘credible legislative inputs that would address the issue’.

“We are all aware that during the recess, the agitation by a group of persons based in the southeastern geopolitical zone of the country and the heightened call by many groups for restructuring of the country dominated discourse in Nigeria. It is in this regard, that I wish to commend our religious and traditional rulers, leaders of various ethnic nationalities, elder statesmen, security agencies, the Governors and indeed governments of the states in the Federation for their display of statesmanship during this period.
Indeed all patriotic Nigerians rose in unison to uphold the fundamental rights of all citizens to move freely and reside in any part of the federation as they choose, without let or hindrance. It appears to me that the citizens of this great country have sounded the message loud and clear that they stand for a united, prosperous and just Nigeria.

It is necessary to emphasize that Nigeria is a constitutional democracy with a clear legal framework for resolving differences that normally arise among citizens, between citizens and government as well as between the structures and arms of government. Make no mistake, as representatives of the people, we have a duty to champion the protection and preservation of the rights of our constituents and peoples. We are very conscious and indeed jealous of the fundamental rights provided under our Constitution as well as the Human and Peoples Rights under the African Charter.

As an institution, this House stands firmly on the side of those who seek equity, fairness and justice so long as such is pursued in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which we as Honorable Members have sworn to protect and preserve.

Anyone or group who assaults our Constitution will not find a partner here because our oath of office repels it, but those who stand for justice, fairness and equity will have partners in us because our oath of office compels it. We would work shoulder to shoulder with all those working within the ambit of the constitution and the law for all Nigerians regardless of creed or ethnicity to be first class citizens as no nation can truly be first class if it harbours within its borders second or third class citizens.”

On calls for restructuring “Do we have a legislative response to the issues that have been thrown up? Is the National Assembly involved in the debate? Can restructuring take place outside the existing legal order? Indeed all the arguments about restructuring are at the end of the day, legislative issues.

It may be necessary in due course for the National Assembly to have a second look at the issues that have been thrown up. The National Assembly as a representative and product of the people cannot act contrary to the wishes and aspirations of its constituents. We need to sift all the ‘noise’ and find out what exactly a majority of our people actually want? This is a responsibility we cannot outsource.”

Going forward, it is my view that we need to revisit some aspects of the voting on Constitution Alteration. Luckily we still have the legislative window of conferencing with the Senate, where we have differences. “Honourable colleagues, it is clear that the things that bind us are overwhelmingly more than those that divide us. Indeed the individuals or groups who sow the seeds of discord and fan the embers of hate and disunity are in the negligible minority.

As representatives of the people, we must continually sensitise our people on the need to support all measures for the enthronement of a prosperous, united and just Nigeria where all citizens have equal stake under the governance of the Rule of Law. It was Martin Luther King, Jnr, who said that “Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Hate multiplies hate, violence multiplies violence…”

We must learn to love one another, understand each other and respect each other for Nigeria to reach her full potentials politically, socially and economically. “Of course all healthy democracies are noisy. But they are filled with noise that elicits debate, not noise that incites to violence. When speech or noise leads to debate its called free speech but when noise or speech incites to violence then that is hate speech. Hate speech has no place in a democracy and must never be tolerated or allowed.

Words are powerful and once spoken it’s difficult if not impossible to take them back. Words have the power to create the atmosphere in which we live. There is nothing that exists that was not created by or in consequence of spoken word(s). Hate speech multiplies words that have the capacity to drown the truth. In the midst of hate speech, the truth is usually the casualty.

Therein lies the real danger of hate speech. Yet, it is only in the truth that everything finds its worth. “It remains for me to charge that the prevailing situation should serve as impetus for more determined performance on our part. The genuine appreciation of these issues constitute a defining parameter for our job as we proceed in this second half of our tenure as the 8th House. Let us all resolve to get down to work and the Almighty God helping us we shall deliver.”

APC And Nigerian Police Are Planning To Kill Protesting Students – Wike Cries Out

The Rivers State Government says it has uncovered plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and some evil-minded Nigeria Police officers to instigate the students of tertiary institutions in the state to embark on protest against non-payment of bursary and in the process, a few will be shot by the police to give the State Government a bad name and label the State as unsafe.

This revelation was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Port Harcourt by the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Barr. Emma Okah.

According to the statement, which was made available to Igbere TV reveals that it this plot is part of an orchestrated plan by the opposition and some police officers to continue to create crisis in the state, create fear in the mind of people, discourage inflow of investments and give the impression that the governor is not compete.

The statement further warns students to stay away from any planned protest as the State Government will not be held responsible if any harm befalls them while in the course of any such enterprise.

“While we recognize the right of any citizen to assemble and carry out peaceful protests within the law, the present planned protest by the students is politically motivated and laced with huge danger as nobody knows who may be killed in the process” he said, noting that the protest is premature as there are several unexplored avenues for students’ grievances to be addressed and resolved.

The Commissioner further warns that students who may defy this caution will be doing so at their own risk as the Rivers State Government will have no hand in inviting police to quell the protesting students or in killing any of them.

I Am Going Straight To The Villa, Am The Next President – Fayose Explodes

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, is confident of winning the coming presidential election when Nigerians elect a new president in 2019.

The governor was hopeful that if supported by his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he would take over government from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“I’m going straight to that Villa. I’m the next president,” he said in a statement issued on Tuesday by his special assistant on public communications and new media, Mr Lere Olayinka.

“I have a penchant for taking powers; that one in President Muhammadu Buhari’s hand, I will take it.”
Fayose further revealed plans to formally declare his intention to run for presidency in the general elections on Thursday in Abuja.

He, however, said in a letter addressed to leaders of the PDP that his ambition to be president was without prejudice to the party’s position, but in the overall interest of the party and the country.

The letter read; “It is with a deep sense of responsibility that I write to inform you of my intention to seek the ticket/mandate of our party to contest the 2019 presidential election.

“Considering your support and commitment towards our great party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), it becomes imperative to keep you informed and seek your support.

“This ambition, however, is without prejudice to our party’s position but in the overall interest of the party and our country.

“I urge that all hands should be on deck to ensure victory at the 2019 presidential election.
“Accept the assurances of my highest regards as a determined presidential hopeful.”

BREAKING: Produce Nnamdi Kanu’s corpse – Brother tells Nigerian Army

Emmanuel, younger brother of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), has asked the Nigerian Army to produce his corpse if he has been killed.

Kanu and his parents have gone missing, since the military raided their Afarakwu residence in Abia State on September 14.

Speaking on behalf of the family on Tuesday, Emmanuel said he strongly believes his brother fell into the hands of the troops.

“It is either they (soldiers) captured him or killed him when they attacked our house. If they captured him, they should release him to the police, and if they have killed him, they should produce the corpse because he was last seen moments before the raid,” he said.

However, the Army has denied keeping Kanu in its custody.
Kanu’s younger brother added that the family had been searching for the IPOB leader and his parents for two weeks without making any headway.

Biafra: Presidency ignorant for threatening arrest of Nnamdi Kanu’s sureties – IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, on Tuesday described some lawyers serving under the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government as misfits who don’t understand how the judiciary works.
IPOB said the lawyers find joy in making extra judicial statements capable of influencing the decision of the courts.
The pro-Biafra group made these claims while reacting to a statement credited to the presidency that those who stood as sureties for its leader, Nnmadi Kanu would be arrested if the IPOB leader fails to appear in court during his next adjourned date.
In a statement by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, IPOB lamented that in Nigeria “there is high level of judicial ignorance where even the Judges are single handedly appointed by the President of Nigeria.”
The statement reads, “Most of them do not understand how the judiciary works, but only parade themselves as legal practitioners, even some who have the badge of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, SAN, are in the category of legal misfits.
“It is very laughable and disappointing to discover that even many half-baked legal practitioners in Nigeria, particularly those in the presidency, serving under the present administration of All Progressives Congress, APC, government do not understand how the judiciary works, but only parades themselves as legal practitioners, and some who have the badge of Senior Advocate of Nigeria; SAN are also in the category of legal misfits.
“This is evidenced as many people including legal practitioners of shame do not know that there are powers exercisable exclusively by the court under a trial Judge such as Justice Binta Nyako.

“It is therefore, an extra-judicial statement capable of influencing the discretion of the court for the principal officer of plaintiff like Nigeria Government in the case between her and Nnamdi Kanu to be heard threatening jail on the sureties of a defendant by any reason.
“The fact that Nigeria government sued a person or group of people does not make Nigeria government usurp the exclusive judicial discretion of the court or the trial Judge. Garba Shehu the media man in the Presidency of Nigeria was heard threatening jail on the sureties of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu as if he has assumed the position of the trial Judge in the court.
“We want all and sundry to understand that the fact that Nigeria government arraigned a defendant does make Nigeria government a Plaintiff and Judge at the same time in the case. A Judge has where his or her right begins and ends, a plaintiff no matter how powerful or influential as he should be, also has where his or her right begins and ends. So is the defendant has where his or her own right begins and ends.
“Here in Nigeria there is high level of judicial ignorance where even the Judges are single handedly appointed by the President of Nigeria, Nigerian government in a case as a plaintiff orders the court where it is standing as a plaintiff to postpone court sitting date to suit its convenient time.
“It is important for IPOB to educate Nigerians to know that it is still in the discretion of Justice Binta Nyako presided court to tell the world on October 17, 2017 whether it is Nigerian Army which invaded the compound of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and took him away or his sureties who were not even consulted by the Army before the extra-judicial invasion and capturing of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and are in the position to produce him in the court.
“IPOB has discovered that over time judicial caricature in Nigeria has made even legal practitioners to lose understanding of the analysis of the law and decided to follow the part of lawlessness, that is why many ignorant and legal misfits are heard saying that a man who Nigeria Army invaded his home and captured is hiding.”

Senate President, Bukola Saraki Narrowly Escapes Impeachment, May Never Go Against President Buhari And The North

Emerging report indicates that Senate President, Bukola Saraki, had on Tuesday, survived yet another impeachment move being spearheaded by Northerner Senators.

The impeachment move came over Saraki’s declaration that the proscription of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, was illegal and unconstitutional.

Igberetvnews gathered from sources, that during the Tuesday’s closed-door meeting before the commencement of the Senate plenary, Senators from the North-East during the session, raised the issue.
Recall, that there were fears ahead of the Senate’s resumption, that the first day might be stormy, because some Senators had perfected plans to ask for clarification as to why Saraki responded the way he did, on the proscription of IPOB by the Federal Government.

A Senator, who spoke in confidence, said Saraki used the closed-door session and consolidated last week’s outreach, which he undertook to Senators from all the geopolitical zones ahead of Tuesday’s resumption.
“Of course, some Senators from the South-East were reluctant to align themselves with the position of the South-East Governors for political expediency; and when Saraki said IPOB’s proscription was unconstitutional, many believed he said it in solidarity with the South-East Senators, who form part of his support base.

“But that is not totally correct; there is the issue of national interest because, we too from the North have the interest of our Constituents at heart. Many of them thought the Senate is against President Buhari, and this is a wrong perception.

“Therefore, we all spoke during the closed-door meeting, and at the end of the day, it was agreed the issue should not be debated in plenary, because what needed to be done by various stakeholders have been done. The South-East Governors have spoken, Saraki had asked for due process to be followed , and the Federal Government did the needful. At the end of the day, the court had decided. We felt it was a win-win situation, and therefore, there was no need to go and strip ourselves naked in the market”, he said.

Efforts to speak to Senator Abaribe was unsuccessful, as he neither answered his calls, nor replied to the text message sent to him last night.

The three-point resolutions go thus: “The unity of Nigeria is not negotiable, and we are fully committed to the territorial integrity of the country.

“We will seek all possible avenues to make sure that peace reigns across the country.
“Advise all groups that are pursuing one agitation or the other, to do so through constitutional means.”

Fani-Kayode lists other groups FG may proscribe after IPOB

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, says the Nigerian government may go after other groups, now that Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has been proscribed.

This is contained in an article he released on Wednesday.
Fani-Kayode wrote: “It is IPOB today but tomorrow, it could be OPC, Ijaw Youth Council, Ohanaeze, Afenifere, Middle Belt Forum, Arewa Youths, Arewa Consultative Forum, Northern Elders Forum or indeed anyone else.

“I have never heard of a “terrorist” organisation that has not killed or threatened to kill anyone and that has totally rejected the idea of violence and an armed struggle.

“I have never heard of a “terrorist” organisation whose only aspiration is to have a referendum to determine whether or not their people should or should not remain in Nigeria.

“I have never heard of a “terrorist” organisation whose only objective is the peaceful and lawful exercise of the right of self-determination.

“I have never heard of a “terrorist” organisation whose only crime is to take objection to the stripping away of their historical and cultural identity and to speak out against the willful marginalisation and mass murder of their people.

“I have never heard of a “terrorist” organisation who believe in passive and non-violent resistance and who consistently emphasise the importance of peaceful opposition.

“Saying that IPOB is a terrorist organisation is like saying that Mother Theresa is the Marquis De Sade. It is like saying that an angel from heaven is a demon from hell. It is like saying that Little Red Riding Hood is the hungry and ravenous wolf.”

Fani-Kayode recently alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari has an agenda to “wipe off” IPOB, its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, and the “Igbo race”.

According to him, “Since when has it been acceptable or the norm to unleash the dogs of war against a group of innocent, unarmed and defenceless young people and their colourful leader simply because they dared to ask for a referendum?

“The fact of the matter is that whether anyone likes it or not, the attempt to break, subjugate, demonise, belittle, vilify and wipe out the Igbo race through the auspices of intimidation, disinformation, manipulation of the media, mass murder and ethnic cleansing by the Buhari administration shall fail.

“The truth is that this whole thing is not about IPOB but about the consistent expression of an irrational, illogical and pathological hatred of the Igbos by the maximum ruler of the Nigerian state.

“And if he gets away with it and manages to achieve his sinister and nefarious objective he will come after the Yoruba, the Ijaw, the Tiv and everyone else in a matter of time!

“That is why it is important to refuse to be intimidated, to stand firm, to hold the line, to resist him with every fibre of our being and to insist on the restructuring and the renegotiation of Nigeria”, the former presidential spokesman added.

North Korea threatens to 'sink' Japan, reduce U.S. to 'ashes and darkness'

By Jack Kim and Kiyoshi Takenaka

SEOUL/TOKYO (Reuters) - A North Korean state agency threatened on Thursday to use nuclear weapons to "sink" Japan and reduce the United States to "ashes and darkness" for supporting a U.N. Security Council resolution and sanctions over its latest nuclear test.

The Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee, which handles the North's external ties and propaganda, also called for the breakup of the Security Council, which it called "a tool of evil" made up of "money-bribed" countries that move at the order of the United States.

"The four islands of the archipelago should be sunken into the sea by the nuclear bomb of Juche. Japan is no longer needed to exist near us," the committee said in a statement carried by the North's official KCNA news agency.

Juche is the North's ruling ideology that mixes Marxism and an extreme form of go-it-alone nationalism preached by state founder Kim Il Sung, the grandfather of the current leader, Kim Jong Un.

Regional tension has risen markedly since the reclusive North conducted its sixth, and by far its most powerful, nuclear test on Sept. 3, following a series of missile tests, including one that flew over Japan.
The 15-member Security Council voted unanimously on a U.S.-drafted resolution and a new round of sanctions on Monday in response, banning North Korea's textile exports that are the second largest only to coal and mineral, and capping fuel supplies.

The North reacted to the latest action by the Security Council, which had the backing of veto-holding China and Russia, by reiterating threats to destroy the United States, Japan and South Korea.

"Let's reduce the U.S. mainland into ashes and darkness. Let's vent our spite with mobilization of all retaliation means which have been prepared till now," the statement said.

Japan's Nikkei stock index and dollar/yen currency pared gains, although traders said that was more because of several Chinese economic indicators released on Thursday rather than a reaction to the North's latest statement.

South Korea's won also edged down around the same time over domestic financial concerns.
Despite the North's threats, South Korean President Moon Jae-in said he was against having nuclear weapons in his country, either by developing its own arsenal or bringing back U.S. tactical nuclear weapons that were withdrawn in the early 1990s.

"To respond to North Korea by having our own nuclear weapons will not maintain peace on the Korean peninsula and could lead to a nuclear arms race in northeast Asia," Moon said in an interview with CNN.

South Korea's Unification Ministry also said it planned to provide $8 million through the U.N. World Food Programme and UNICEF to help infants and pregnant women in the North.

The move marks Seoul's first humanitarian assistance for the North since its fourth nuclear test in January 2016 and is based on a longstanding policy of separating humanitarian aid from politics, the ministry said.

"DANCING TO THE TUNE"
The North's latest threats also singled out Japan for "dancing to the tune" of the United States, saying it should never be pardoned for not offering a sincere apology for its "never-to-be-condoned crimes against our people", an apparent reference to Japan's wartime aggression.

It also referred to South Korea as "traitors and dogs" of the United States.
Japan criticized the North's statement harshly.

"This announcement is extremely provocative and egregious. It is something that markedly heightens regional tension and is absolutely unacceptable," Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga told reporters.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, visiting India, called for strict enforcement of the U.N. resolution, saying the world must force a change.

The 15-member Security Council voted unanimously on a U.S.-drafted resolution and a new round of sanctions against North Korea on Monday in response to its latest and most powerful test, banning North Korea's textile exports that are the second largest only to coal and mineral, and capping fuel supplies.
North Korea had already rejected the Security Council resolution, vowing to press ahead with its nuclear and missile programs.

A tougher initial U.S. draft of Monday's resolution was weakened to win the support of China, the North's lone major ally, and Russia. Significantly, it stopped short of imposing a full embargo on oil exports to North Korea, most of which come from China.

The latest sanctions also make it illegal for foreign firms to form commercial joint ventures with North Korean entities.

U.S. President Donald Trump has vowed that North Korea will never be allowed to threaten the United States with a nuclear-tipped missile, but has also asked China to do more to rein in its neighbor. China in turn favors an international response to the problem.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said the international community had reached a "high consensus" on trying to realize a peaceful solution.

"We urge the relevant directly involved parties to seize the opportunity and have the political nerve to make the correct political choice as soon as possible," Hua told a regular press briefing.

The North accuses the United States, which has 28,500 troops in South Korea, of planning to invade and regularly threatens to destroy it and its Asian allies.

The United States and South Korea are technically still at war with North Korea because the 1950-53 Korean conflict ended with a truce and not a peace treaty.
